Curt Weldon transfers $70K to legal defense fund
from ThinkProgress:

Curt Weldon transfers $70K to legal defense fund.»

The Crypt reports:

Former Rep. Curt Weldon (R-Pa.), under investigation by Justice Dept., transferred $70,000 from his campaign account to a legal defense fund, according to a filing on Tuesday with the Federal Election Commission.

The existence of a legal defense fund for Weldon, who was defeated in his bid for re-election in 2006 following disclosure of the DOJ probe, has not previously been reported. (…)

Weldon has attracted Justice Dept. scrutiny on several fronts. Following media reports about Weldon’s interaction with his daughter’s lobbying firm, her house was raided by FBI agents in October 2006, just weeks before the election.

Crazy Curt Weldon

I know I’m a day late on this one, but it’s too funny not to share.

A caravan of jeeps and heavy equipment crawls across the Iraqi desert, headed for a secret location on the banks of the Euphrates River.

Their mission: to dig 25 feet down into the riverbed and unearth concrete bunkers filled with chemical weapons produced by Saddam Hussein’s regime and hidden before the outbreak of the Iraq war in 2003.

And who’s that, dressed in a safari jacket and a pith helmet, supervising the dig? None other than our own U.S. Rep. Curt Weldon (R., Pa.), leading a secret mission to unearth the Holy Grail of the war: the weapons of mass destruction that have eluded every other U.S. search team since our troops invaded three years ago.

2. Able Danger's In Hot Water
IRC, his daughter is also tied up in this mess that was first exposed just prior to the '06 election and cost him his seat.

When this period of history is written...many years from now...the books will cite the unprecendented corruption of the GOOP Congress from '00-'06 when DeLay ruled the roost. Weldon was one of his most loyal foot soldiers, along with Cunningham, Doolittle, Ney and others who will end up living at the taxpayers expense in the grey bar hotel.

The problem is we've just begun to turn over the rocks on these crooks...and those were the most aggregious ones. I suspect the next President will have to expand the DOJ (after a thorough "boooosh cleaning" to get rid of the Liberty U "grads") to wrap up these cases and handle the many others that are sure to follow.

I kinda like these goons trying to drag their trials out...here's one from '06 that could make some nice headlines for the '08...and then the ones currently underway (Renzi) will bear fruit in '10. The ultimate DeLay legacy...the total implosion of the repugnican machine.

4. Doobies Has Turned Into A Parody
Don...we've seen how many here on DU think Lou's a true "populist". I think he believes he's the re-encarnation of Howard Beale.

Watching Lou's face turn beat red used to be a lot more fun on an old analog TV...now it only matches his just-for-men hair

Cheers...

6. I Remember This...Note the date: Oct 6, 2006
There's Krazy Kurt going ballistic...the tinfoil on the hat aflame...and an election slowly being eaten by scandal a month away.

Hoekstra was also all over the place about this thing...IRC didn't he hold Congressional hearings? The damn thing is you turn on hate radio and you'll still hear about this astroturf.

After rewatching this, one thought came to mind...the recent Mukasey whopper about some call from Afghanistan priot to 9/11...where are the Able Danger bots on this one?
