"The Dictatorship of Relativism" re:Pope, Bush. What the hell is it?
"We need your message to reject this dictatorship of relativism and embrace a culture of justice and truth," Bush said in brief remarks welcoming Benedict to the White House.

Now, the Pope has railed before against this dictatorship of relativism, but I can't see anything more democratic than relativism! In this relative world each individual holds slightly or radically different beliefs of their own choosing. Where is the dictatorship?

The dictatorship in belief emanates from the source of that belief in Catholicism. If we were looking at dictatorships of belief, it would have to start there, wouldn't it, with one single infallible source of truth, the Pope?

Or am I misunderstanding something about this concept?

1. Obscure terms sound good. They sound like they're describing
something BIG, something important, something bad.

Even though we've now gotten post post-modernism.

Moral relatism? Haven't we been giving nations like china a pass on human rights and such using the argument of moral relatism?

6. Is Bush asking the Pope to pray that he gets impeached?
BUSH (out loud): "We need your message to reject this dictatorship of relativism and embrace a culture of justice and truth,"

POPE (silently): "Dear God. Please, please, get rid of this confused dictator, and bring back justice and truth."

7. "Don't think. OBEY!"

That's the message they're giving and it's as bogus as those two right wing males are.

They just called it "dictatorship" because "dictatorship" is a bad word and they know their moronic sheep don't know what it means, either.

9. Hmmm I know
THis is what they want

They want us all to go back to around 1850 or so, slaves and all.

This whole free thinking relativism leads to freedom. But it's much better to speak out against freedom when you label it it's opposite. Classic tool for implementing a dictatorship over free thought. Orwell would yet again be proud of his personal vision of our future.

10. I believe step one was attacking Darwin, I guess they're going after Einstein now or at
least the process of reason?

I would imagine "Leaders" such as Bush; who can claim during a debate with out batting an eye that the most influential person in their life was Jesus Christ and then embrace torture and degradation not to mention waging a willful premeditated war based on lies, would abhor reason. Because with faith, you don't need to answer any questions, just hide behind the cross or whatever your religious symbol is.
