2 accused in toddler’s dehydration death
These people aren't animals. Even animals would not do this to their offspring.
Sick, sick, sick.

Pair allegedly withheld fluids as punishment for bed wetting

"MERIDEN, Conn. - Two family friends accused of depriving a toddler of fluid for a week as punishment for bed-wetting appeared in court Wednesday to face charges in his death.

Police said 23-month-old Amari Jackson died of dehydration while Sharon Patterson and her brother Robert Patterson were caring for him in February.

Investigators said glasses around the house were laced with hot sauce to keep the boy from drinking.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Robert Patterson told police that the boy cried for his mother when he began staying with him and his sister, but "towards the end of his stay Amari was crying for something to drink."

1. Toddlers can't stay dry at night.
that's why they should be in diapers at night, even if they're able to stay dry during the day. What were these folks thinking? You can't force even older kids to have bladder control. My daughter wet the bed till she was 5, and I've known lots of kids who wet the bed much later than that.

Not someone I would have left my kid with. Did the mother know about the following info? The article didn't mention whether the father is around or anything.

Sharon Patterson told police she had been drinking and smoking marijuana the day before Amari died, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. She also told them she had previously lost custody of four children because of drug addiction. Attorneys said in court Wednesday that she has mental health issues.

7. According to the article:
"Hicks said she spoke with Amari on the phone frequently and twice dropped off diapers at the house. She said the Pattersons never indicated he was wetting the bed or that there were any problems."

5. Forced sterilization would be a good idea, in her case.
Investigators said glasses around the house were laced with hot sauce to keep the boy from drinking.

She also told them she had previously lost custody of four children because of drug addiction.

6. If they claim they did this as part of their religious doctrine,
there would be at least a dozen "DUers" jumping to their defense and saying their religious rights allowed them to do it and how dare the state try to intervene........
