McCain even with Obama, leads Clinton: Reuters poll By John Whitesides, Political Correspondent
1 hour, 20 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain runs even with Democratic rival Barack Obama and narrowly leads Hillary Clinton in potential match-ups in November, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

McCain was seen as a better steward of the economy than either Democrat despite their repeated criticism of his economic credentials. He led Obama by 3 points and Clinton by 5 points on the question of who would best manage the economy.

<SNIP>

By now, people have probably seen this poll. While I don't buy a mid-April poll seven month before an election (and while our primary is still going on), it really REALLY sickens me that ANYONE would actually believe that McCain would do a better job on the economy.

It's stories like these that sometimes get me really depressed.

1. it's probably because people have been told repeatedly that the Republicans are better
fiscally - despite it not being true for generations.

Ugh.

8. oh, I agree 100%.
I have been preaching that for years, but the "liberal" MSM (another myth promoted by the GOP, along with them being the party of "personal responsibility" and morals) keeps repeating the lie.

2. When the Dems Can Focus on McCain...
The drastic differences between our policies and theirs will be more apparent to the electorate!

3. Read George Lakoff
He explains in detail how the radical right has been convincing people to
vote against their own best interests for years. And they still manage to
get away with it.

When this "I-hate-Hillary" vs. "I-hate-Barack" stupidity is over and done
with, I hope the party focuses on an all-out effort to get the voting public
to understand that the Republican Party is selling them (AGAIN!!!!!) a bill
of very damaged goods.

5. I agree
I just told my husband the same thing just today. I can't understand how these folks will continue to vote against their own economic interests - how long can they take it? I think that our economy is already at the breaking point. Will it take a deep recession to wake these folks up that the Republicans do not care about how difficult their lives are - they care only about rewarding the rich.

6. It's depressing that people are so boneheaded and ignorant.
McCain has said himself that he's not very good at the ecomnomy, or something like that.

9. I don't trust the Zogby polls.
We're being set up for a "close race" - then the Republicans steal another election.
