5 Supreme Court justices on White House guest list
Interesting choices of SCOTUS justices for dinner with the Pope...

Fair and balanced - NOT...

"From the Supreme Court, the guests are Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas."

15. How rude. Talk about endorsing a religion.

That is just horrendous. Jews not welcome in the Bush White House at the Pope's dinner? I thought the bit about the NAZI pasts was a joke. I'm absolutely offended by this.

This is unbelievable. I hope that the Anti-Defamation League speaks out on this.

Are we sure that the other members of the Supreme Court were invited but did not choose to attend?

7. On normal days, they serve seal steaks.
They toned it down for the Pope.

Unfortunately they have all been bad ones for the past eight years.

11. i just realized why they didn't invite the
jewish judges. scallops are on the menu. jews are not allowed to eat shellfish. they would have had to change the menu.

12. So what about the others?
Stevens and Souter, afaik, are neither Catholic nor Jewish. They must really be feeling left out! And did he invite the Catholic members of Congress?

Despite the menu (I have no idea if Ginsberg or Breyer keep kosher, or if any of the other guests have allergies to shellfish or are vegetarians), if you're going to invite some of the Supremes you should invite them all. If they can't eat some of the items a gracious hostess (not to be confused with Laura) will make sure their needs are quietly accommodated.

22. Not to put too fine a point on it, but
Roberts and Alito weren't on the Court in 2000.

Just clarifying.
