2. Do you honestly think 25-35 belong in the same age range? |

What kind of information or opinion were you hoping to form from this?

3. You asked two questions- I'll try and answer them - I never suspected an issue with the age ranges |
|
. . .
You didn't offer an alternative, so I have no idea what a "better" age differential would be.
BUT
I suspect from your response that SOMEBODY would complain about whatever age groups I picked.
As for what kind of information I was seeking, and not just for myself,
I thought other DUers would be interested to see the demographics of this board.
It is a simple poll - How old are the people that post on this board?
If you do not like this poll,
then ignore it.

9. Let me help explain... |
|
It seems that polls are often posted like this, and please don't take offense... but typically by someone on the farther end of the poll. When you're discussing age ranges, 25-35 is a very inaccurate representation for many reasons.
Professionally speaking - many on the lower end of 25-35 are just getting established in their careers (not started, but established). Many in the upper end of the range are in senior positions, management or further.
Personally speaking... 25 yo's are either still single or just getting started in their families. 35yos are more likely to have established families.
I could go on, but I think the point is clear. It's just not a very scientific way of "lumping" people. Even five year ranges would be far more accurate. PS. Please try not to take offense - it just seems to be a common theme on this board that I find somewhat odd.

13. Not taking offense - was not trying to "lump" people into categories. |

I just picked them numbers out of my 57 year old brain
As for being scientific
We know it is not.

60. I once saw a DU age-range poll that looked something like this: |
|
under 13 13-15 15-18 18-25 25-45 46-60+
Dear Kittycat, you might actually find that a 25 year old has as much in common with someone 10 years older, as someone her own age, just as a 35 year old may find as much in common with someone 10 years older, or younger.
If I were conducting a poll between the ages of 25 and 35, I would give a poll choice for each of those ages.
In my own case, as in everyone's case (unless you were a YFZ Mormon) I was very different at age 25 than I was age 35. Anyway, polls are meaningless.

I listen to a certain amount of old-time radio tho I'm not old enough to have heard it the first time around.
I always laugh at the JB bit where a guy is mugging him:
Mugger: Alright, your money or your life?
JB: (Long silence.)
Mugger: OK. What's it going to be?
JB: I'm thinking. * It always cracks me up.
Have a good evening... :hi:

consistent over the years -- the 30 to 40 or 35 to 45 ranges. My age group, whether it's 50 to 60 or 55 to 65, has been always the next highest age range on DU -- although the under 50 or under 45 cohort is always breathing down our necks.
In any case, the over 30s always outnumber the under 30s. I have no idea what it means, but I do find it interesting. :D
