13. It surprised the hell out of me when he came out.... |
|
it was a great sketch. He got his message out and played along with Stephen like a pro. He always sounds comfortable, educated and self assured when he speaks. John Edwards has an authentic passion about himself and what his goals are.
I personally feel like he's pushing for something he totally believes in, as opposed to most candidates, who are running on political calculations. They pander to whoever can help their cause and screw everyone else. The importance of Universal Health Care & ending poverty crosses party lines and affects tens of millions of Americans. It's a good draw for swing & crossover voters.

Myself, I keep low expectations on a lot of things because I'd rather be delightfully surprised than utterly disappointed... expecting too much sets you up for disappointment more often.. it gets depressing after a while.

44. There are so many reasons to be depressed now, and most of it stems from the |
|
lawlessness of the administration. So, if my "fantasy" doesn't pan out, it wouldn't make a dent into my feelings of anger and helplessness I will continue to experience until all of the wrongs are made right.

|
*That's* my hopes for Edwards.. just so we can have him around longer.. yeah, I'm greedy... I want all the Edwards we can get for as long as we can get it. I truly believe the man has a vision & a quest. He believes in what he's doing. He's passionate about it.

So, without spoilers, was it a real interview, or a comedy sketch?
I would LOVE to see Colbert ask John the real questions, like, "Why, John. Why so early in the game?"

Colbert didn't *quite* sound like his usual self, in the studio, but it was still good.
