Minor Quake felt here in Indiana...
Just about 15min ago, a minor quake shook Terre Haute Indiana. I know because I live here, it was enough to get us put of bed.

1. I felt it in Chicago.
I was up already but it woke the boyfriend up.

I felt a little shake then looked at the floor to see it move. The ceiling creaked too!

(I'm sure the Californians will laugh)

4. I Did, Too, Sir
Glad to have some external confirmation. Very odd feeling: thought I was losing balance on my chair, and saw the cabinet doors swaying a bit in the kitchen.

10. It was a pretty good shake.
I've felt tremors before but this one was fairly strong (for here anyway).

I jumped off the couch and dropped the lap-top.

I'll have to check for crack in the plaster.

the boyfriend wants to know why the lazy assed dog didn't warn us.

14. Not So Dramatic Here, Sir
But this is an old and pretty solid building.

Of course, it is hard to tell if our cat is acting weird....

21. Exactly
I'm sitting in my computer chair on a cement floor. I knew the chair wasn't moving so I thought I was having tremors or something LOL.

17. 5.4 is a pretty good shake, eh?
I actually saw the floor move.

I thought it was one of those acid flash backs I've been waiting and hoping for.

20. Yea, you're going to wake up and read that some stores
lost items of shelves, etc.

It's not a big earthquake, but it's certainly not wimpy.

2. I felt it out here, in Missouri, near St. Louis...
It shifted my bed a little bit, I was reading a book, and my TV looked like it was rattling.

woke up to strange rumblings--wasn't sure if I was dreaming it or what, but found a thread of people from my community talking about it as well on a different board. Weird.

5. I felt it in Dayton, OH.
Edited on Fri Apr-18-08 04:54 AM by AngryOldDem
Around 5:30 a.m. Bed started to shake, and bookshelf knick-knacks were rattling...

This site seems to confirm that the epicenter was Terre Haute/Evansville. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsus/

Last time I remember this happening here was in the early 80s...unnerving for this earthquake rookie...

Hope all is well.

EDIT: Brain and fingers do not work in a coordinated fashion this early in the morning.

12. Thanks for that link
According to this page, the last earthquake that affected Illinois was in 1984 (perhaps the same one you remember?): http://earthquake.usgs.gov/regional/states/illinois/history.php

13. Most probably.
But I thought the cause of that one was the faultline in northwest Ohio.

23. Its like jello
My computer chair is on a cement floor, and I couldn't figure out what was moving. The last one I felt was in Alaska. I was standing on a cement basement floor, and it threw me down on the couch. Weirdest feeling in the world :)
