But Liberals are Elitists

There are two distinct types of elitisms.
Class elitism is where Barbara Bush pats a poor black child, victim of Katria, on the head and tells him that he is having a great adventure. I think she believes that since he, being in the lower class and didn’t have anything to start with, living on candy bars in the Astrodome must be a fun adventure. George Bush carries on the family tradition and demonstrates class elitism when he thinks that the children of his, financially elite class, are exempt from participating in the war. Rules and laws don’t apply to the financial elitist class.

This is different from intellectual elitism. And here is where it is hard for liberals to not be elitists. When you are trying to have an intelligent conversation with one of the republican gullibles, like my brothers in law, it is impossible to not feel somewhat elite.

I submit that the above info is provided free and worth every cent.

1. Don't forget moral elitism
Republicans always want to remind us that they are superior beings and we are somehow lowly dogs.

4. Moral elitism is a tough one for me to figure. Why is it that those that feel they are morally
superior, always follow leaders that are clearly not morally superior? I am guessing that if you have to feel your morally superior, then you probably are not.

Now that will cost you extra. Twice what the original op was worth (still zero).

7. "Tell yourself a lie enough times and soon you'll start to believe it"
comes to mind.

Your post costs twice as much as the OP? Four cents is starting to get pretty steep.

2. Not all stupid people are conservatives, but all conservatives are stupid people.
Becoming elite requires not being a complete and total shitferbrains.

5. I disagree. Although it does feel good to say that. There are some conservatives
that are quite smart. So why are they so gullible you ask? I think it has to do with their ability to grasp reality. They want everything to be in a neat and tidy package. When you try to tell them that reality isn't so neat and tidy, they can't deal with it. They love to believe that someone else will make the tough decisions for them.

8. I think that smart conservatives are only just evil people using conservatism as a cover...

to be complete and total douchebags.

Ben Stein, for example, can't possibly believe his own bullshit.

16. There are differences even in conservatism
There are fiscal conservatives, and some of them are quite smart, and social conservatives, who are mostly dumb as dirt or from a patriarchal tradition. Morality goes through stages of development in childhood, and many social conservatives are stuck in the stage where actions count more than intentions.

3. And it's worth every penny!
The problem is that the gullible people who vote against their own best interests because somebody is leading them around by the short hairs by appealing to their bigotries doesn't have enough upstairs to tell the difference between the two types of elitism.

9. Watch this video of Obama's grandmother
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UreJZMY_2IY

And now remember that W--grandson of a Senator/Wall street exec, son of a President, Harvard MBA and owner of a baseball team--is the guy you want to have a beer with.

Yet another form, i.e., the elitism of entitlement....

11. Anti-intellectualism runs deep...
in the US. Anybody with an education is - perforce - an elite in the eyes of many people. In the climate of the last 7 years, Reason and a belief in Science automatically make a person a scorned elite.

As an elitist myself, I've always felt that ignorance is not really a problem... it can be overcome with education. What kills me is the willful stupidity abroad in this country. "God said it, I believe it, and that settles it."

The movie "Idiocracy" says it better than I can.

13. It's funny, you know
The Repub side of my family (monied) expressed bitter disappointment when none of us went to college. They continuously crow about the nieces and nephews who did and landed high-powered jobs as doctors, lawyers, stock brokers, etc.

So I don't buy the anti-intellectualism the Right sells and never have. Oh sure, many on the ground believe it because it makes them feel better about themselves to do so. But the people feeding it to them don't. They're all smug bookish types, you'll notice (well, except for Bush**, but he DID attend Ivy League all the same).

Intellectual elitism is just another wedge they use to attract votes. And I assume the ordinary working Joe and Jane who vote Repub really must be stupid because they keep falling for it in spite of the obvious hypocrisy.

14. Education is fine with Republicans..
As long as it is strictly for the purpose of increasing one's income..

It is education for the sake of learning that they despise.

15. Forest for the trees
The repubs value people by their net worth, the rest of us value people for who they are and what good or bad they do. That really is it in a nutshell.

Thanks, it was so obvious I missed it.
