Space Worker Finds Bahamian Girl's Message In Bottle Near Launch Pads
Space Memorabilia Sent To 9-Year-Old, Classmates
KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. -- A message in a bottle dropped into the Atlantic Ocean by a 9-year-old student in the Bahamas washed ashore near launch pads at Kennedy Space Center and was discovered by a space employee. IMAGES: Message In Bottle The letter, addressed to "Dear Sea penpal," found inside the bottle was written in October and sent from Holy Name Catholic School in Bimini.
United Space Alliance worker Jill Vogel recently found the girl's message when she volunteered for beach cleanup at the Kennedy Space Center.
The girl explained that every year her Catholic school does a class project for Columbus Day and sends messages out to sea in bottles.
