AMERICAN POLICE STATE HITS MEMPHIS- “Operation Sudden Impact” Leads To Several Arrests

Operation Sudden Impact Leads To Several Arrests
April 15, 2008

Federal agencies raided several Memphis businesses in a coordinated effort to find information about possible terrorism ties. Law-enforcement agencies in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas participated the an anti-crime and anti-terrorism initiative that involved officers from more than 50 federal, state and local agencies.

Called

“Operation Sudden Impact,”

the initiative had officers from six counties rounding up fugitives, conducting traffic checkpoints and doing other crime-abatement programs from 7 a.m. Saturday through 7 a.m. Sunday.

The FBI along with hundreds of officers said they were looking for anything out of the ordinary and agents apparently seized computers and paperwork from at least some of the businesses.

While some business owners feel they are being targeted, law-enforcement officers said they are

just trying to track down possible terrorists before something big happens.

“What we have found traditionally is that terrorists are involved in a number of lesser known type crimes,” said Mark Luttrell, Shelby County sheriff.

...

The Sheriff’s Department says that altogether 332 people were arrested, 142 of whom are considered fugitives. No word on how many of those arrested may actually have ties to terrorism.

Law enforcement agencies join together for 'anti-terrorism initiative'

By Cindy Wolff (Contact)
Monday, April 14, 2008

Shelby County Sheriff's deputies arrested 71 people, including 31 fugitives, during a 24-hour street sweep that ended about a half hour after sunrise Sunday.

The sheriff's office and 50 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies pulled over cars, climbed on boats on the Mississippi River and served fugitive warrants as part of an "anti-terrorism initiative," called Operation Sudden Impact.

Special Agent Don Wolfe and his dog, Hydro, ride on the Mississippi River with the U.S. Coast Guard during Operation Sudden Impact, an unprecedented event among law enforcement agencies in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas.

It was the first time that many agencies joined forces for such a large sweep, said Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell, whose office coordinated the operation.

Even though Memphis hasn't suffered a terrorist attack, the city is using federal grants to fight crime, which might lead to the discovery of a terrorist suspect. Other cities are using federal money with similar programs.

40. heroin users, drug sales and 202 traffic violations:
The 100 sheriff's deputies working Saturday night and Sunday morning also recovered 12.2 grams of heroin, 19 syringes and seized $1,795. They issued citations for 202 traffic violations.

Information gathered in the sweep will be reviewed by intelligence officers at the local Homeland Security center. The information will be forwarded to the state's Homeland Security center in Nashville.

Reason that that, but the usual result that the newspaper reports, and that the subsequent flurry of letters to the editors decries, is the penalties to the small time marijuana users.

And I don't think that local officials can stop it - once it is under Homeland Security purview, the Feds are in charge. And they can order the local police departments to do anything they want.

All part and policy of them keeping us very very afraid.

12. Patriot Acts are based on the War on Drugs...
From www.whitehouse.gov

"On March 9, 2006, President Bush Signed The USA PATRIOT Improvement And Reauthorization Act Of 2005. Since its enactment in October 2001, the Patriot Act has been vital to winning the War on Terror and protecting the American people. The legislation signed today allows intelligence and law enforcement officials to continue sharing information and using the same tools against terrorists already employed against drug dealers and other criminals."

Y'all remember the multi-jurisdictional task forces used so extensively by the WOD? Only a pilot project for authoritarianism.

REMEMBER, all you venal follow-the-money-trail types: the WOD is NOT about money. It's about social control. And now we have the War on Drugs writ large.

12.2 grams of heroin for 19 syringes??? That is not a hell of a lot. They seized 1,795 dollars, or around 90 dollars for each syringe.....All of this for 12.2 grams of skag? What a waste of time.

I see ads for police equipment all the time. I won't name a company name, because frankly I don't have to- each and every company I've seen advertising equipment for police use in the past several years has had a definite paramilitary cast to it. I mean this, without exception. There are no company ads going through the mailstream I see that do not show UBERSWAT-type presentation in their imagery.

We are entering very dark times. The final anagram in my sig line is apt: The Bush Administration = bandits in this tame hour.

the peasantry.

This merely follows all totalitarianisn nations that have grown up out of the rubble of formerly free societies.

First, the Ruling Class' Opposition is broken, the checks and balances that maintained a free society are destroyed.

During this period, the peasantry is left relatively undistrubed, lest we awake to the true situation while there is still a chance to do something about it.

Once the Nazis or Bushies or whoever has turned freedom upside-down and shattrered the System of Checks and Balances, once the Ruling Class is broken and brought to heel. Once Nazism or Bushevism is now fully "legal", only THEN does the peasantry begin to feel the full force of the tyrannical intentions that started the whole transition in the first place.

This is only the beginning. With each year the chains that bind us in tyranny will grow stronger. This will be augmented with "jumps" every time the Bushies administer another "shock" to our national nervous system, as they did on 9/11, with the antrhax attacks, or the October Surpises of the Bush-Bin Laden and American al-Qaeda tapes on Oct. 30th (I believe) 2004.

These are without a doubt The Good Old Days.

PEOPLE TAKING STILL PHOTOGRAPHS OR VIDEO TAPING FROM THE SHORE

A white mid-sized four-door sedan pulls into a "view" area near a railway bridge; drops off two passengers, and departs. One of the passengers begins taking video pictures of the bridge and of a commuter train and a long freight train which, headed in opposite directions, pass each other on the bridge about 15 minutes later. (As a frequent and long-time marina worker, you know they do every weekday throughout the year). The second person appears to be taking notes, and occasionally glances at his left wrist as if checking a watch.

You continue down river, returning to your home marina just a quarter mile South. As you pull into the service dock, you notice what appears to be the same white sedan parked at water's edge in the marina parking lot. The driver is outside the car, and is in the process of packing a large video camera into its storage case. A few minutes later he gets into his vehicle and drives away. People photographing or video taping potential terrorist targets are engaged in activities that should be considered suspicious.

45. ...a vast round up operation that one sheriff's deputy has described as "martial law training".
snip-
Federal law enforcement agencies co-opted sheriffs offices as well state and local police forces in three states last weekend for a vast round up operation that one sheriff's deputy has described as "martial law training".

snip-
WREG Memphis news channel 3 reported that the Sheriff's Department arrested 332 people, 142 of whom were fugitives, or "terrorists" as they now seem to be known.

Hundreds of dollars were seized and drugs recovered, and 1,292 traffic violations were handed out to speeding terrorists and illegally parked terrorists.

http://www.wreg.com/Global/story.asp?S=8165019

The authorities even raided businesses and store owners, confiscating computers and paperwork in an effort to "track down possible terrorists before something big happens".

snip-
The information and intelligence from the operation will be collated and routed through federally funded state-run fusion centers, which are working in conjunction with the military arm of the DHS, NORTHCOM.

Such information will soon include the DNA and other biometric information from every person arrested, which DHS head Michael Chertoff has declared is no longer your personal information.
