Why does he always look so EVIL?
Edited on Sun Apr-20-08 12:28 PM by Rosemary2205
I'm not catholic, only know closely a few people that are. Not a whole lot of Catholics in the deep south. I didn't always agree with John Paul, was pissed about how he handled the molesting. But I didn't certainly think John Paul was evil personified. I always thought of him as a well meaning but flawed person.

Every time I look at this one I get the willies. Is it physical appearance or is it an evil soul? I can't decide.

7. HA HA!!
Probably like me, able to spot a drinker, abuser, or other lowlife within the first minute and duck out the back through the kitchen before the table is ready and the loser is still at the bar.

At least I was a cheap non date, never stuck him for dinner.

I'd never have gotten more than five feet into the restaurant if I'd seen Pope Benny sitting at the bar with the yellow rose.

Wink, wink.

He looks like Satan, just a little, don't you think?

10. I think this is more about expression, not physical attributes
the man PROJECTS evil, just like Ann Coulter does. If they didn't he would just be an agreeable elderly man and she a slender attractive woman in her forties.

how about we just call him a misogynistic, virulently homophobic, ex-Hitler youth, destructive, horrific piece of garbage.

Does that work better?

24. May I ask, how many times have you been arrested protesting the Iraq war?
I'm assuming you've put your money where your mouth is. Surely you've been arrested numerous times for civil disobedience to protest the Bush administration's numerous crimes. If you haven't been arrested for civil disobedience recently, how can you hold a 14 year old boy to a higher standard than you hold yourself to as an adult? You expect a 14 year old child in Germany to have the courage to defy the Nazis at the height of WW2?

Being coerced to join the Hitler Youth at the age of 14 is a far cry from becoming a Nazi as an adult because you agree with their ideology.

18. I 've never been prone to judgement purely on looks.
I've met people who had a great face for looking evil but their whole spirit and personality was so open and joyful. My brother is one of them. The guy would make a great bad guy in the movies. I normally look at a picture and say "that looks evil", but I don't automatically associate it with the nature of the person in the pic.

In this case, I do.

49. I was tempted to post something like you did. There is something outright
evil looking in the man.

It's the mouth. Have you noticed that smile. The mouth gets all creepy. Then when he speaks, he has that distinct german accent which I guess we have all been conditioned to recognize as nazi-like because of all the WWII movies.

Why people can't attack the acts/deeds is beyond me.

How many people that aren't "pretty" are the most wonderful people you've ever met? How many beautiful people are the kind that you would run away from as fast as you can?

22. I've always thought the eyes are the windows of the soul; his eyes are very telling.
And he went outside protocol & chose himself to be the replacement for John Paul.

What I want to know is: what's with the red shoes & red Gail Evans hat I've seen him wear in other pictures? I can't see him advising the poor, who are the majority of the world, with that gold-everywhere look -- & just how many carats are in that staff he's displaying? He looks like he's more representing the golden calf I saw in the movie "The Ten Commandments" than ordinary folks. Maybe he's the king of the top 10%?

I think the negative response of many is accentuated by the regalia, which evokes a picture of religious authoritarianism that is antithetical to what many Americans feel about religion, government, and liberty.

31. Well, let's see
Nazi sympathizer, head of the Inquistion (yes, it still exists, just has a different name)

First: Congregation for Universal Inquisition 1542-1908
Next: Congregation of the Holy Office 1908-1965
Now: Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith 1965-

No change in policy or orders, only the name is changed to protect the guilty.

Last head: Joseph Ratzinger (Prefect: 25 Nov 1981 to 19 Apr 2005)
Present: William Joseph Levada (Prefect: 13 May 2005 - )

How many more things he's participated in that aren't easily found and don't really fit with the idea of a modern pope? (I think Ratzinger would have done very well in the days of the Borgias)

54. No doubt
Though the last Pope was pretty decent on the whole, the newest Pope is too new to know what he'll do with new job. His performance as a cardinal wasn't exactly sweetness and light. In fact, I'd say being the brains and force behind protecting child molesting priests is evil on a very basic level. Not that MHO matters much.

I know a lot of people are offended when I say GWB is an evil fucktard. It would be nice to respect the office enough to just be quiet, but GW has dishonored himself, the country, the office so bad that if my saying he's evil offends them more than GW's actions, then so be it.
