Sales Of Hybrid Vehicles Zooming
DETROIT - Kim Fenske drives a bus in Colorado by day, but when he's not working, he zooms around the mountains in a 2007 Toyota Prius.

Fenske, a lawyer by training who also has worked as a forest ranger, was an environmentalist long before hybrid cars such as the Prius hit the market.

But he recently decided to go one step further and make an environmental statement with his car.

A growing number of buyers feel like Fenske. U.S. registrations of new hybrid vehicles rose 38 percent in 2007 to a record 350,289, according to data to be released today by R.L. Polk & Co.

2. The money spent on the Iraq war thus far would have brought 142,857,149 Priuses.
$3 trillion (cost of war) / $21,000 (cost of Prius)

This would have cut oil consumption and CO2 dramatically.

I can't help but think this would have been a much better use of taxpayers' monies...

3. I bought my wife a 2008 Prius for Valentines Day.
That will also cover our anniversary, her birthday, x-mas, and groundhog day, for the near future.

4. We bought a Prius hoping for 40 mpg, but we actually get 50 and above all the time! (:
And the benefits of very little pollution is a real benefit. We love our Prius. And our timing was good, buying last summer.

7. We have a 2007 model...
and we generally get between 52 and 54 mpg.

After we past the first 10,000 miles it has never gone below 51 mpg

6. Don't hold your breath.
The Chevy Volt is a PR puff piece from the company whose chairman declared that "global warming is a crock of shit" and that they are only making hybrids for PR.
