Repuglican Congressional candidate Zirkle speaks to NeoNazi group

Republican congressional candidate Tony Zirkle spoke last weekend at a white supremacist event celebrating Adolph Hitler's birthdate, an appearance Zirkle said was in keeping with a promise to address any group interested in his idea that the country should weigh segregating people by race.

Zirkle, a lawyer from South Bend, said it would likely offend some voters here that he delivered remarks Sunday during an American National Socialist Workers Party meeting in Chicago.

"I understand, but that's the risk you have to take in politics," Zirkle said this morning. "They invited me, and I had the time available in my schedule."

Zirkle said the appearance wasn't an endorsement of the group, because " I don't really know much about them."

A photo of the gathering on the Web site www.overthrow.com shows Zirkle standing in front of a large photo of Hitler, while flags emblazoned with swastikas hang on either side.>>>>snip
