US back in the killing busniess. The Supremes deny appeals.

Time to catch up with China, which has been kill-kill-killing-away while we've been wasting our time arguing whether killing people is cruel and unusual.

Reuters:

"The Supreme Court on Monday followed up on its ruling last week upholding the commonly used lethal injection method of execution and rejected appeals by 11 death row inmates in seven states.

The ruling means more than a dozen death row inmates likely will get early execution dates. Officials in the leading death penalty states, like Texas, Virginia and Florida, said they planned to schedule executions that previously had been on hold."

I'm sure that'll do a lot for the crime rates in those states, it always has in the past. Not!

1. Yes, well thank our Dems in the Senate who all cooed enthusiastically about how "honorable"
Alito and Roberts are.

3. When lethal injection works it's not cruel. But when it doesn't it is.
It like The Green Mile when one of the inmates being executed was dry sponged.

4. Whew, that was close!
Kali, Thanatos, or whatever death god the Bush Administration worships, was running perilously low on human souls to gorge on. I hear (s)he was even beginning to eye senior members of the White House staff with an "I wonder what they'd be like with barbecue sauce" look in his/her/its eye. Now, America can go back to slaking the dark hungers of its patron deity with the flesh of condemned criminals - or people the infallible Judicial System has decided are criminals (which is the same thing, right? Right?)

It feels good to be back in the Axis of Evil, where we belong.
