Edit: Now recommended too. There's a chain email going around that beautifully makes it clear that the great majority of these rebates will be shipped to China after people spend them in a place like Wal-mart. Bush isn't boosting our economy, he's boosting China's. People don't think shit through. They never never do.

...I couldn't find it, but a kid goes into a fireworks shop with a nickel, happily imagining he's going to get a handful of fireworks. But the grouchy clerk hands him one tiny firework. So the kid walks out of the shop, lights the firework, tosses it into the shop, sits down on the curb and enjoys a huge show of fireworks.
With any luck, those who support the Republican Party in spite of their own impoverished state -- those Republicans who don't have health care, who can't afford gasoline, who struggle to pay the bills -- will take their little fireworks and toss them back into the shop. With any luck the GOP and the platforms of their Democratic allies will be smoldering ruins in November, and we can devote our energies to cleaning up after the disaster of Reagan/Bush.
