Looks Like Another GOOPer Bites The Dust...
This just on C-SPIN...Mike Enzi...(R) from Wyoming is "retiring". That puts both seats in that very red state in play. Looks like it's no fun being part of what appears to be a permament minority

3. An Empty Suit For A Blank Check...
I think it'd be some real schadenfruede if the Democrats could pick up one of the open seats. Gary Trauner ran a strong campaign for the House 2 years ago and could make a strong run at one of these Senate seats.

My bets are Enzi will be trolling K-Street...another sell-out. Good ridence indeed!

:hi:

2. Do we have viable Democrats running for those seats?
The retirement isn't a victory unless you have strong Dems in position to grab those seats. In fact, you might get repukes running who are worse than what is leaving.

5. Gary Trauner
http://www.traunerforcongress.com/

He ran a strong race in '06 and almost pulled off an upset. That House seat is open and it'll be interesting to see if he decides to jump into the Senate race now.

8. It's No Fun Being In A Permanent Minority
I have a feeling Enzi called the RSCC and asked how much money he was gonna get for his re-election and found out the cupboard is bare and his seat would be a low priority. It's hard to raise money when you no longer can ramrod special spending bills and "deregulation" that benefit the fat cat donors. The old saying "what have you done for me lately" applies...and as one of the weakest members of the Senate, Enzi musta seen that it doesn't pay (literally) to hang around in what appears to be a big Democratic year in the House & Senate. He's cashing out...and good ridence.

10. Could We Handle Another One?
Letsee...we got Senator Wide Stance in Idaho...Renzi under indictment in Arizona...Senator NO of Alaska also in the sites of the prosecutors...and this is just those I could easily pull off the top of my caffinated head. The writing is on the wall for many of these GOOPers that the party is over. What's interesting is how so many of these goons have chose to cash in rather than fight for their seats and their party.
