I promise you this....
If the dem's blow this one, this one that was really a softball right down the middle of the plate, I am through with politics.

I have been involved in various ways since 1975 and I just can't take anymore rebuke.

I know I am right.

I know we are a better country than we have been led to believe.

I know that the few should not have so much sway over the many.

I know that America should not have to resort to an Iron Fist at the first provocation, I have more faith in what was said so long ago by Jefferson and Madison and Washington and Adams and Paine.

But if this goes south.

If John McCain takes the oath next January.

I am through wasting my time trying to convince people that they are indeed better than the lowest common denominator.

I have no children. Neither does my brother or sister. I really have no stake in the future beyond getting me safely to retirement.

I can not stand to wait for another realignment of American politics.

If it's not now then when.

My patients is wearing thin.

My optimism is fading fast.

I have ten maybe fifteen years left to make a splash.

But if the dem's can't do it this year, I am diving into another pool.

I will become a disinterested voter, leave all the heartache behind and put myself and my needs over those of my country.

In other words, I will become just another average American.

5. I personally want Obama...
But I would take Hillary in a New York minute.

John McCain would be a worse disaster as president than W.

Mark my words.

2. The democrats will I'm afraid.

The opportunity was lost when we didn't have the constitution defended through impeachment. People still think we are in Iraq to fight terrorism. Many think bush is protecting us when he takes our rights away. Only forced truth can deliver us since we don't have an honest media.

3. Focus on Congress
We need Instant runoff voting to make a third party viable. No matter where you go the government will screw up your life, you can't get away from them. WE have no choice but to take the Democratic party...the Country back from the real evildoers.(But I DEFINITELY know how you feel!)

6. I've been at it for so long...
My congresscritter is DK so that isn't going to change anytime soon.

I am working on a state Supreme Court race to try and get some balance in the Ohio Justice system.

You are allowed to take care of yourself too, so I hope you get to enjoy the springtime a little. Cheer up.

4. It isn't over yet, Chris...
I don't think we've blown it...

At least I hope not...

I just can't see you especially turning your back on all this...

You enjoy politics too much!

It's in your blood...

And even if you do, the day will come when the phone will ring, and someone will need you for your expertise...

And it will be irresistible...

You'll see!

Still, I hear you...

And I don't blame you either...

I still think we'll pull this one out for ourselves, and our loved ones...

7. Whoever wins the nomination won't lose to McCain
It's just not going to happen. And on the off chance that it did, you're far too valuable in local politics (where movings and real change begin) to leave entirely. You're a political junkie just like me, bro.

DU is like a massive dose of bad acid this time of year, if only for the trolls, true believers, and the politically crazy. You're not any of those people, which is why we need you.

And dammit, LeBron is Da Man!:D

9. If McSame wins, I am seriously considering moving to Canada.
I kid you not.

Like you, Chris, I just don't think I can take more of the same; I can't take McSame.

I'm an Obama supporter, but I will state this clearly: though I have many points of contention with Hilary Clinton, if she ends up getting the nomination, I'll vote for her.

If she loses to McSame, I'm audi.

I think I'm too old to say, "well, maybe next time."

10. I was born only three miles inside the US border,

It shouldn't mean i have to die here.

My generation had NONE of the benefits from the debt run up by others and we had not political say while it was being done.

I am not sticking it out and working myself to an early grave just to pay for the retirement of the selfish generations.

i already work 55+ hours a week just like I did when i started working 20+ years ago.

11. I must ask what you mean by the "selfish" generation.
If you mean the Boomers, I ask that you please not lump all of us together. I was born dead in the middle of Gen B: 1955. That generation spans 1946-1964, and believe me, we are as different from each other as older and younger generations are.

13. they may mean y'all who selfishly fought for civil rights and hope to receive social security
and pensions. Us Xers, the Boomers' Love Children, don't have such hopes. For any of it, honestly.

17. Those who are 85 to 115 years old now are NOT the selfish generation.

I served them in retirement facilities and they were/are a fun generation and good people almost to a flaw.

However their children turned out very different.

18. "Mike and the Mechanics?"

If you are going to quote a group, it really doesn't help to quote from a group that even Michael Rutherford admits was just a ploy to see if he could make more money than he was currently getting as a member of Genesis.

14. I have days like that too....
but then, I woke up this morning thinking..... maybe, just maybe...... :dilemma:

Off to retirement for me as well. And, know what? I have discovered that the crappy economy may actually be playing in my favor. Houses in my neighborhood are being snapped up like candy. And values are on the rise. Why? Banks aren't giving out mortgages for mansions in the suburbs anymore! :woohoo:

15. Same here. Personal story:
We gave a lot more than we could really afford to the Kerry-Edwards campaign. I felt abandoned (and pissed) when Kerry decided not to fight the voting irregularities (fraud), but I soldiered on.

I am a founding member of our local Democratic club.
We formed in early 2003.

I worked my butt off for the last 4 years, helping to get the club organized, up and running, and expand the membership, and served as treasurer.
I was asked to serve yet another term as treasurer but told them 4 years was long enough. Now we have 2 grandchildren and spend a lot more time with them, out of state.

Last January we elected a new slate of officers who also make up the executive board. The 2 co-chairs just had a falling out and both resigned. No one else seems willing to step up.
And it appears that the treasurer who took over is incompetent.
The club is in total disarray.

I've been involved with several boards of directors of volunteer organizations over the years.
I have never seen the petty, pissant arguments, back-biting, cliques lining up against cliques, that I've seen in our Democratic club.

A pox on all their houses.
:grr:
