1. My grandparents WERE illiterate peasants! |
|
Yet somehow they managed to learn to read and write English well enough to get their citizenship, work hard all their lives and see every single grandchild graduate from college.
I may be the descendant of "peasants", but I'm far to much a lady to use the kind of language this jerk's bigotry deserves.

2. I know my father was... |
|
Until he graduated from Georgia Tech.
Almost overnight he was literate, and quite clean for a "peasant."

3. Since most immigrants I know are bilingual |
|
where most Americans speak only English, I find that a bit ridiculous. Also, I've noticed my friends from Mexico (Mayans) speak three languages and their kids excel at school work, especially science and math.

4. Each of the last 3 immigrants I worked next to had a Doctoral Degree |
|
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 07:28 AM by ThomWV
One medical doctor (cuban) and two Chemical Engineers (Chinese and Indian). The two engineers were wonderful people (1 has since died of cancer), the medical doctor was bitter about not being able to practice in this country (at that time).
On edit: I originally said all three had a PhD, but on reflection I realized one had an MD.

5. How much you want to bet this guy |
|
Has had one of those illiterate peasants:
* Cooking or serving a meal for him? * Fixing his house? * Giving him or a family member medical treatment? * Trimming his lawn? * Raising his kids?
