Seen the new Pelosi/Gingrich Ad about Going Green? "We Can Solve our Energy Problems, Together!"
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 09:02 AM by KoKo01
They are sitting on a couch closely together and Nancy is beaming and Newtie is (well just Newtie).

It's sponsored by: "We Can Do it Together."

I'm not sure what I think about it...I'm still trying to get over how Nancy comes across in it. I suppose it's good to show bi-partisan support for such an important issue facing us.

1. It makes me puke.
Nancy is just so smiley and happy.

Gingrich is a rat bastard and I wouldn't sit in the same room with him, let alone the same piece of furniture.

:puke:

2. Gingrich is having one of those fascinating post-elected office careers Republicans have
The list of radical Republicans who leave elected office and suddenly become very tolerable is much longer than Democrats who leave office and become tolerable - probably because Democrats never leave office but more likely because to run as a Republican, you have to lie about your true nature.

Goldwater is the standard for a conservative who left elected office and suddenly became a reasonable human being.

But we've seen it with Bob Barr.

We are seeing it with Gingrich.

We've yet to see it with Delay, but Delay is most likely truly evil.

Like I said, I think it says a lot about one has to do to actually become a Republican candidate.

3. You seen the one with Al Sharpton and Evil Uncle Chuckles (Pat Robertson) yet?
If you think the one with Newt is creepy, you ain't seen nuthin' yet.

4. Repukes like Bush, Gingrich, and McCain only SAY they believe in Global Warming, but they don't.
They only SAY they believe in it so they have a cover for doing nothing about it.

The same way Repukes SAY they support the troops, but they really don't.

5. I like it-- the problems we have are...
far bigger than silly partisanship and bullshit "positions."

Too many people are too busy bickering with the "enemy" than looking for ways to work together to solve the problems. As much as Newt makes me squirm, given a choice I'd rather fight the real problems than fight him.

6. The Body Language Says A Lot...Plus Listen For The Codespeak
Gnewtie looks like he's been fed some of Rushbo's Oxy...you can see how pained he is when he says "I was Speaker. In this shit's head, he thinks only being emporor would fit his ego.

There's also one that features Al Sharpton & Pat Robertson...where Sharpton says "I'm on the left..." and Robertson only says "...and I'm right"...(note the missing "on" and "the"). Sure sounds like GOOP codespeak to me...so that the wingnuts won't go burning down Robertson's church for standing so close to a black man.

The couch, btw, is in both spots...and I imagine will be in other ones. I like the message...just the wrong messangers.

:hi:

15. I noticed that too. But I think there's a reason
I think the ads are actually targeted toward conservatives, not so much to progressives who have already long understood the great importance of environmental issues.

If a few playful verbal digs and deferential treatment (in the ads) help conservatives get the message through their notoriously thick heads, it's probably worth it.

7. I'm ashamed that she did this with Gingrich
Jesus H. Christ -- he is NOT a representative anymore! WTF is she doing giving HIM face time in this PSA?

He should be SHUNNED.

8. We need everyone we can to get on board with going green
If Newt can encourage people from the right to join us - I have no problem with this.

We have got to put partylines aside when it comes to saving our planet

13. I was thinking about those ads - and came to the conclusion that the target audience is conservative
which makes sense if you think about it. They're the ones that need convincing.

I don't think the ads - this one and the Sharpton/Robertson ad - are 'sinister' in any way.

16. I have problems with "Pelosi/Reid's Commity" ...Let's Come Together Philosophy...
Why is it that when "Progressives" worked "their butt off" to get "Pelosi/Reid" in POWER for '06...they immediately started INVESTIGATIONS...but the INVESTIGATIONS were HOLLOW...and had NO TEETH?'

All of the MIGHTY INVESTIGATIONS...by Waxman and Leahy...have DEAD ENDED! Bush/Cheney won't answer and their OPS are only allowed to speak under "pre-conditions between Congress and President" and when we get them out there...it's a FARCE and NO ONE IS EVER HELD ACCOUNTABLE!

How can a Government be REPSONSIBLE TO THE PEOPLE...when there are NO...NO...NO...."CHECKS AND BALANCES?"

17. That's a whole 'nuther issue - one I agree with you on completely.
And I realize that's the *real* reason people here are reacting so negatively to that ad. If Pelosi had acted in better faith the ad would have been kind of cute, as intended, rather than 'too close for comfort'.

19. I do understand what you say though...they are geared to the Conservatives....
I wonder how it will play with them, though. They aren't the kind of folks who are "open-minded to reason." Like much of what we Dems do in trying to "reach out a hand to them" ...it's often bitten off by the rabid dogs, crocodiles...that dwell amongst that last 20% of the die hard Faux/Limbaugh/Malkin and the rest.

Why is it so important for our Dems who've seemed to not listen to their ACTIVISTS on the LEFT (DEMS) to REACH OUT TO REPUGS? That's what "I" want to know. Who is more important? Why take for granted your "own" to go after folks who've hated and villified and thwarted every move you've made for decades?

I sort of believe in "Family Loyalty." It's not a concept that seems important, anymore. :-(
