Informant to pay for attorney with FBI funds
TAMPA -- The confidential informant whose misdeeds brought down the Latin Kings prosecution in Hillsborough County came to court today to face his own violation of probation charges.

Luis "Danny" Agosto told Hillsborough Circuit Judge Daniel Perry that he needed 30 days to hire an attorney. The judge wanted to know how he could afford counsel.

"From the money I get from the government," Agosto said.

"How are you employed?" Perry asked.

"I get a per diem from the FBI, sir."

Agosto, 30, has previously testified that the FBI, which stopped using him as a confidential informant in March 2006, is still paying him $2,400 a month for his work for other law enforcement agencies.
