Governors Daughter WVU Degree Rescinded
West Virginia University administrators made a "seriously flawed" decision in awarding Mylan Inc. executive Heather Bresch a graduate degree she didn't earn, investigators said in a report released today that was scathingly critical of WVU leadership.

The report by the five-member panel concluded the "erroneous decision" to award the bogus M.B.A. degree in October reflected "failures of process and failures of leadership" in showing favoritism to the daughter of West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin.

The WVU Board of Governors said President Michael Garrison should accept responsibility for errors in judgment but did not recommend any disciplinary action against him or others involved.

Provost Gerald Lang said he would follow the panel's and the board's decision and rescind the degree.

3. Step In The Right Direction
At least this shows the governor does not necessarily run the university like he thinks he does.

4. Also Nathanial Manchin
Also,

The governors nephew, Nathanial Manchin just had to pay back most of the $6,500 in WVU tuition paid for by the state for his MBA attempt at the same school.

5. I want you all to know that Mylan Inc. is one of the finest companies in the country to work for
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 02:47 PM by ThomWV
Mike sold off most of it years ago and instantly made himself a very rich man but his legacy has held and it is an extremely desirable place to work. They take care of their people, they treat them right, they pay them right. Oh, and the founder's wife, Betty, is an unbelievably decent and generous woman. They have given back millions upon millions to the local community. You don't see much of it but these are two people, Mylan and Betty Puskar, really are good folks and the company that still bears Mike's name even though he has a lot less to do with it really shouldn't be defamed because this one asswipe works for them.

WVU, on the other hand, should eat shit and die on this one. I earned my degrees from there, it does not please me to see that the work I did is now being cheapened by them giving away what I had to work so damned hard for.

7. I just have to say something snarky.
I'm sorry for those who are offended.

For the past 15 years, I've felt strongly that MBA's are trash, anyway. I felt that way before I knew of Bush.

9. The Harvard and Stanford MBA's sure showed their worth at Bear Stearns
Run it into the ground and then have fellow MBA Dumbya bail their asses out on the backs of us non-MBA's.

8. I'm shocked that the Manchin's would ever seek favoritism
This is really more about political dynasties more than anything else. I actually think Joe is a decent governor and I had great affection for his uncle. But all the Manchins feel like they should be "rewarded" above and beyond their state salaries.

10. University President Should Be Held Accountable
They should hold the president of WVU accountable for this. He had to know about it all along. And he is a personal friend of the Manchins. Nail his ass to the board too.
