Heard the "Stagflation" bomb dropped on the radio today... |
|
Along with these other fun predictions:
$4.00 a gallon gas, nationwide, by the 4th of July.
$150.00 a barrel oil by the 4th of July.
Rationing on all food staples (flour, rice, sugar, etc.) before Labor Day.
The two co-hosts than spent the better part of an hour talking about the proper food storage levels a family should have, surviving an economic collapse, etc. Best part, it was a right wing radio program. Even THEY can't pretend it is all roses and rainbows anymore.

7. 22 gallons at $3.79 today.. |
|
Yes, it was 93 octane, but that's one hell of a lot more than it was even a year ago.

8. I only had a 10 spot on me at the pump - the lady at the register laughed saying... |
|
$ 10 bucks isn't going to get you a quarter tank!
She was right.

It takes 800 gallons to get through a MILD winter.
Yes. I am freaking out.

2. With all this dire news we are being bombarded with daily, |
|
it is almost as if the "PTB" are trying to provoke the populace into doing something against them. Tinfoily? Yes.

4. I heard similar sentiments from my co-workers... |
|
Although they were more along the lines of "they must WANT it to happen, they keep beating us over the head with it."

12. Considering that the rationing reports all originated in right-wing media, |
|
and were made on the basis of almost NO data - i.e. ONE Costco in california limiting purchases of 50-lb bags of rice - I'm thinking along those lines, too. The NY Sun started the "rationing" talk, then FOX & Glen Beck....then more centrist news orgs started to pick it up. I'd go over to Free Republic to see what the story is there, but I'm afraid to.

Incompetence is one of their cop-outs. None of them are that, not even Bush**. They're cunning bastards who know exactly what they're doing.

6. We need to be careful about throwing that "rationing" word around. |
|
This is NOT government rationing. It's individual stores with limited supplies of certain items limiting the number it allows customers to buy...and that happens all of the time ("limit: 5 per customer" for example).
It's really not "rationing".

10. No rationing (by quantity) with this bunch, that would be too fair |
|
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 10:06 PM by loindelrio
It will be rationing by price.
The haves will have, the have not's will not.
On edit: Also, too much profit to be had. Raise the prices until demand equals supply, it's the 'Merican way.
