Fear and trembling over Karl Rove: Rove has been a disaster for rethugs |
|
What has he masterminded nationally? I'll tell you what: A hastening of the collapse of that grand structure, the "permanent republican majority". It's laughable. There was nothing impressive about chimpy's "elections". He was installed by the SC in 2000. He barely scraped through, as a sitting "war" president in 2004. In 2006, the whole thing imploded, with dems taking back the Senate and the House in an impressive way. We'll be reaping more of his arrogance this year in Congressional elections.
Why we build Rove up to be this invincible and towering figure is beyond me.

2. Hopefully Karl Rove is about to get his, but don't discount what he has "accomplished" |

The Siegelman case could be the key in bringing Rove down.
I hope so, very much.
Though, the Bush administration has accomplished so very much of what they wanted. They have stacked the judiciary to a remarkable degree, and they have cowed the opposition into silence.
They have greatly expanded the perceived (and thus real) powers of the executive branch.
They have eviscerated the rule of law dating back to the days of the Magna Carta, by not only suspending, but totally eliminating the Great Writ Of Habeas Corpus.
They have failed the nation, but they have not necessarily failed to achieve their own goals.
What they have achieved is not due to the genius of Karl Rove. It is due to the fact that the so-called "leftist" party of this country did not stand up to what Rove represents.
It will take a future executive bent on restoring the rule of law, and a legislative branch, unafraid of political consequences, unafraid of losing their easy lifestyle and access to really cool parties on Martha's Vineyard where they can hobnob with all the "cool" people, to confront and undo their misdeeds.
We need new elected leaders, that will do their duty... the duties outlined in our great founding documents to restore what has been stolen from us.
While Barack Obama, to a certain extent, is an unknown quantity, he is the only realistic option that we have to achieve the goals that we must now demand.
