Cormack McCarthy's "The Road" made into feature film...
I thought it was interesting that Cormack McCarthy's "The Road", a book about
a post-apocalyptic world, is being made into a feature film.

Won't that be an uplifting film? I can't even imagine.

My husband read the book, and was emotionally distraught while he was reading it and
several days after finishing it. I decided that I didn't want to read it.

Did others have the same reaction after reading it? Would you see the movie?

Here's an article about the making of the film in Pittsburgh. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08115/876084-42.stm

(I'll refrain from making any comments that correlate the PA primaries with apocalyptic conditions!) ;)

1. Couldn't get to page 10 without crying...two of my sons are pretty much the exact. age...
..of the child in the story. Every line of dialog delivered from him was delivered in their voices.

  I could not go on.

I could maybe watch the movie because it would be a different face, different voice, than the one in my head as I read. But I'd probably sob uncontrollably through most of it.

2. Loved the book. Stark and terribly sad, but the writing is excellent
I'm looking forward to seeing the film.

4. Will the movie have a musical number at the end? Just like the book?
You told me there was a musical number!

5. "Gray skies are gonna clear up"
"Put on a happy face!"

I expect that it will be billed as a light romcom chickflick.
