Bush and McCain to New Orleans Survivors: Let 'em Eat Cake
Edited on Thu Apr-24-08 04:37 PM by kpete

Speaking in New Orleans about Hurricane Katrina today, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) tried to contrast himself with President Bush’s delayed response to Katrina, saying, “I would’ve landed my airplane at the nearest Air Force base and come over personally.”

Another Katrina-era pic

A smart Dem notes that Bush was actually with McCain on August 29, 2005, the day Katrina made landfall.

POTUS presented McCain with a birthday cake that day upon getting off Air Force One at Luke AFB near Phoenix.

"After they had the cake, did McCain suggest to Bush that they take Air Force One to the nearest military base in New Orleans like he says now?" cracks this Dem.
