The Barbies of Kiev Brace for Ukrainian Hitler Doll
Unbelievable, you'd think - but this appears in several news outlets:

Ignoring the law that bans Nazi images and positive depictions of the Nazi regime, the toy manufacturer in question has created a 40-cm (16-inch) Adolf Hitler doll, complete with moving parts and a wardrobe of Third Reich outfits.

The leader of Nazi Germany will first be available in two styles: Early Days Adolf and Wartime Adolf.

Those wishing to play "Rise of the Nazis" will probably go for the former, decked out in a brown shirt and jodhpurs. The more militant will no doubt favor the uniformed, jack-booted military style of the latter, complete with Iron Cross.

And from the Daily Mail (not always reliable, so I'm hoping the last paragraph is just something they've made up):

The Adolf Hitler doll which comes with a change of clothes - and a spare head with a kind face

An action-man style doll of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler has gone on sale in the Ukraine, with saleswomen comparing the doll to Barbie.

Supermarkets in the capital Kiev are stocking the 40 centimetre high figure of the fuhrer, complete with jackboots, leather trench-coat and swastika armband.

The £100 figure has a spare head "with a kind expression on it," glasses and several changes of clothes.
...
According to the saleswoman, should the demand be high, manufacturers will go further and launch a series of themed Third Reich toys, including interiors of Hitler's chancellery, toy concentration camps with barbed wire, barracks and operating models of gas chambers and crematoriums.

And just when I was thinking about moving to Europe. Maybe I'll move to Israel instead.

3. Early Days Adolf & Wartime Adolf -- kinda like our cultural split over Young Elvis vs Vegas Elvis
...only instead of sequins, they have holocausts.

4. Does the "kind faced" one look like Bush?
What kind of parent encourages their kid to play Nazi concentration camp? Who the heck would want to nurture a child's imagination in this way?

6. This should not be permitted
A lot of Jews were executed by the Nazis in Ukraine. This is disrespectful to the memories of those who perished in the holocaust.

7. Well now! Someone finally made a more inappropriate toy than "Talking Dr. Laura"

One of the things this doll says is, "the proud mother of an American Soldier." I mean, come on: someone HAD to have shown her Deryk's MySpace page.

But the Hitler doll is definitely worse.

8. Toy concentration camps with barbed wire?!
The obvious gross-out factor aside, wouldn't that pose a danger to the next generation of upcoming Hitler Youth?

9. I could see historical museums buying these for WWII displays
provided they were put in the proper context and not in any attempt to portray him heroically. As to who else wants a doll Fuehrer, I am completely puzzled.

13. Considering that the price is 100 pounds, or $200
and the average annual income in the Ukraine is only $1950, I doubt that there will be too many Ukrainians willing to spend such a huge chunk of change on such a ridiculous item.

15. And they can't put them on eBay!
They'll have to sell them through Stormfront or some such WN site, I suspect.
