Republican chair hopeful arrested

Local Republican activist Jon C. Stainbrook was arrested at 12:20 a.m. April 23 by UT police for failing to disclose personal information and obstructing official business following a traffic stop near the university's Health Science Campus, according to UT police records.

According to the UT police report, Stainbrook refused to provide officer Michael Bagrowski with identification after Bagrowski approached the parked vehicle in which Stainbrook was occupying the passenger's seat. The vehicle's driver seat was occupied by a 27-year-old female.

Stainbrook, 44, told Bagrowski he had identification, but said he would not show any to the officer. Stainbrook, according to the report, said the officer had no reason to stop them and was not in UT police jurisdiction. Stainbrook said he would provide identification to Toledo police, but not to UT police.
