freak floods in ohio

BELLEVUE -- Beautiful weather, no river, no stream and yet almost a thousand residents are coping with flood conditions.

For some reason, the earth in Bellevue continues to heave up millions of gallons of water to the surface.

1. From the article:
Mike Willis says he and his neighbors are getting angry that the disaster has not gotten the attention of anyone at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources of any other state agency.

"Tell them to get here and take a look at what we're dealing with day after day after day" demanded Willis.

"I've already lost about $17,000 in wages and expenses to keep this water from flooding my home" he added. "Some of my neighbor's homes are destroyed. Why isn't anybody here to help us?"

Gee, maybe because the Ohio National Guard is all in IRAQ??

4. I think the madrid fault line quakes
might have something to do with it too.I think the mid country quakes might not just be limited to tiny tremors forever.I wonder how if a big quake hit madrid how it would affect other fault lines in the usa and maybe even mess with the yellowstone caldera? Who knows. All I hope is it isn't bad.

5. Mid continental quakes
do propagate farther and more acutely over that alluvial pan, like the skin on a banjo.

Certainly odd things happen to karst water flow all the time. Missouri has dozens of captured streams, springs, sinkholes, and filled sinks, which, this might signal the formation of. A cave collapse might do it, but there might have been seismic evidence of that.

I hope we find out what has caused this, because I can think of less happy reasons for this such as a sudden build up of some as yet unidentified force acting on the plate.

6. Science aside...
...and thank you for it, but I think the big issue is: how can the media ignore it?

9. I don't know about that....
...unless these floods were a precursor to it.

This explains to me why the counties in this area have been under flood warnings for weeks, though. Ohio had a lot of rain at the end of March and beginning of April that caused a lot of counties to have problems -- but some, again, have been kept under these warnings for weeks. I could not understand why since we really haven't had any appreciable rainfall (heavy rain over a sustained period) for a few weeks now.
