Quick! I need help regarding the National Day of Silence today.

My school is participating in the Day of Silence (http://www.dayofsilence.org), a national youth movement bringing attention to the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their allies. I will not be speaking for the whole day (pretty tough for a teacher!), and, as of yesterday, 80% of the students in my grade had joined in as well. I am EXTREMELY proud of my school, my students, and my profession today.

Anyway, I'm putting together a short Powerpoint presentation and I want to highlight some of the people who have been silenced by homophobia. Off the top of my head, I can think of Lawrence King (who this year's Day of Silence is dedicated to), Brandon Teena, and Matthew Sheppard. Who are some others?
