US 'extremely concerned' over Iran
http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/2EB50C20-D8D3-4755-A0E6-141F57A91A89.htm

I find this comment most troubling.

Mullen said

"I think it's important to ratchet up the pressure as much as we can on Iran ... internationally, financially, diplomatically ... without taking the combat option off the table."

these guys are taking orders from Bushco.

1. "How can we maximize war profiteering for republicon cronies? Hmm - big concern." - Republicons
"We must find a way to reap Massive War Profits. As usual. Smirk." - Republicons

2. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we already know we are being distracted from the FAILURES in Iraq!!
The longer Iraq goes on, the more distractions they need.

3. I think these guys think it would be a cake walk to take out Iran... But they may...
very well find out differently if they do attack Iran. An attack on Iran could very possibly start a major war with no limits in sight.

4. The neo-cons are convinced they can bomb Iran into submission
According to their white paper, they can bomb Iran to the point where the people will turn against the government and overthrow it. No invasion will be necessary.

In reality, the opposition groups in Iran have said they will defend the country if attacked and Iran has more than enough firepower to make a complete mess out of Iraq and the entire region.

5. And the other very bad thing is our folks in Iraq... They become canon fodder...
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 09:53 AM by LakeSamish706
for Iran and you can bet your ass they will focus on both them and Israel. The other obvious concern is how will China and Russia react to an attack on Iran?

10. China will sit back and enjoy the show, Russia will be ready to pick up the pieces
China is the only country who can absorb the oil price shock. They'll pay for it with the massive amount of U.S. dollars they are holding.

Russia will wait until things are a real mess and then step in to bring back order.

8. The Diversion Game...Redux
How ironic that we hear that Syria is playing with Nukes and WMDs and how evil and awful Iran is...and that lapdog Petreus will now move over to Centcomm. It means for us to brace for more bad news from Iraq and that this regime is still looking for scapegoats for its failures.

IMHO the only thing standing in the way of this regime and a foolhardy attack on Iran are a handful of military types who are dragging heals and the regime has moved most out of the way. I wouldn't put it past this regime to sabre rattle up and until the election, the, AFTER, launch an attack that will mess things up and entangle the US military further beyond 1-20-09. I sure hope I'm wrong!
