I think she'd draw LOTS of viewers.

A great female anchor who is FAR more than a 'cute' face and a 'cute' laugh.

69. Maddow & Tucker?
I think a Maddow & Tucker show (like Hannity & Colmes) might have some appeal. Maddow completely wiped up on Tucker in the past when they've gone one-on-one. Maddow fans will be happy to see her tearing into Tucker and it might have some more independent/conservative appeal with Tucker on the show, increasing ratings and appeal.

8. Yes, Rachel definitely should have her own show.
She's smart, well spoken, and has a very good way of speaking to make her point. She's polite during debate, and she shuts up and lets others have a say as well, which is a refreshing change of pace from slobber mouth (Tweety) who asks a question, then just keeps talking until there isn't enough time left to answer it.

Rachel would be another Keith Olbermann if she had the opportunity, and I'll bet she gets it eventually.

She's got some serious talent.

She has a way of explaining complex issues in easily understandable terms without condescending or sounding smarmy.

She's doing a fine job with her career right now, but she's really burning the candle at both ends by working so much. I expect MSNBC has promised her something for all this. If not, she must be a cyborg.

16. I know I would watch it.
Personally, I would just be happy if they had a disclaimer before asking their cadre of republican hacks to give their "analysis" of the Democratic race. "Let's turn to Pat Buchanan, who in the interest of full disclosure, is a life long Republican who actually wants only the worst for the Democratic Party, so really, when he says all these glowing things about Hillary Clinton, please remember he has nothing but contempt for her but will certainly provide us with a wealth of disinformation in order to ultimately sabotage the Democratic Party. Welcome Pat." Something like that.

I like to see her on typical cable-news panel. The usual talking heads on these shows have gotten so comfortable with being allowed to say whatever the hell they want, and now that Rachel is slapping them with a dose of reality, you can see their heads spin.

43. If you get a chance to podcast the AAR shows she did in CO
you will hear the audience frequently laughing at her very funny way of presenting the news. And she's just better on TV.

I have to say, as a person who has struggled with gender issues, I am totally fascinated at her ability to easily transition from her tomboyish, more butch appearance to her femmed-up, I'd say even glamorous TV persona. WHen I say easily, I mean it appears that it's done so easily. I've heard her say that she feels like a principle dressing up, and that's not all that comfortable for her, but you would never know it. To me, she embodies what I strive for myself, which is striking an exquisite balance of yin yang, and seemingly appearing so comfortable in her own skin.

And this is just a fun little bonus observation for me above and beyond the fact that she is brilliant, and talented and will not take one ounce of bullshit from Scarborough, Buchanan or anyone. She's totally broken the mold and I don't think they've yet figured out how to respond to her - SO fun to watch all this unfold.

68. Maddow TV show would be wonderful
One has to think that's MSNBC's plan. Wait until the election and give her a show to replace 'Race to the Whitehouse'. The real question is what format do you want to give her and what would work best. One of her best and most unique qualities is her ability to have a civil conversation with just about anybody no matter how much she disagrees with them. I'm sure MSNBC realizes this, so they might think about giving her a show more similar to the Hannity & Colmes style, in the sense that you have two anchors who take opposing views and duke it out. Rachel Maddow is very adept at winning debates, so her fans won't be disappointed and it could also appeal to more independents and some conservatives instead of just liberals, thereby increasing MSNBC's television base and ratings. Even though she did a great job substituting for Keith Olbermann, I don't see the advantage to giving her the same type of show right before Keith comes on.

70. They should replace David Gregory (Rove's dance
partner) with Rachel Maddow!
