I was just asked that question by one of my office mates, in a conversation we were having about the Bell shooting/mistrial.

Sometimes, people really make me wonder. Not a single critical thought in their heads...I wasn't "there", so therefore I shouldn't question why some dude was pumped full of 1.25 pounds of lead.

...that none of us "were there" for anything that happened in the 19thy century, but we talk about those things in History courses every day...and make judgements, offer opinions about, etc., too.
