38. OMG! I didn't notice that, and it was right in front of my face...
"that's why it's Bush v. Gore". Of course! The Plaintiff is named first.

I'm embarrassed. I'm usually much better at picking thru the BS. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Should be spread far and wide.

42. Plaintiff is not named first in Supreme Court cases.
The person who has lost at the lower level is named first. It can be the plaintiff or the defendant.

48. Yes, it's the "petitioner" named first at the USSC
As you said, the petitioner is the person who is disputing the lower court ruling, which can be either the plaintiff or the defendant (or the applicant or respondent, etc., from the lower court decision).

43. Actually Gore brought the case into the court system at the state level.
Bush then appealed the case into the federal courts.

But, ya know - we sort of like it.

A**hole!

26. We'll get over it as soon as the effects of junior's devastating impact on
the environment, the economy, our standard of living, the legitimate functioning of government and the fiscal integrity thereof, the value of the dollar, the rule of law, the Constitution, international organizations, laws, treaties and goodwill, and also the carnage, the loss of lives, limbs, brains, other body parts are no longer felt. Until then, we the people will not likely get over it. And may all those who believe in heaven and hell, but nonetheless enabled and/or shilled for the man and his PNAC dream burn in hell, well at least figuratively, with Scalia leading the way. :grr:

39. If politicians today tried to write a Constitution,..
it would be at least 1000 pages long.

For example:

"The income tax code and its associated regulations contain almost 5.6 million words -- seven times as many words as the Bible. Taxpayers now spend about 5.4 billion hours a year trying to comply with 2,500 pages of tax laws...."
U.S. Representative Rob Portman (R-OH)

3. I have a Scalia story that few are aware of
The son of a friend of mine was once studying in Chicago. His landlord was
none other than one Antonin Scalia. When the time came for the young man to
move on, he told his landlord that he would not be renewing his rental contract,
and requested the return of the money he had left with Scalia as a security
deposit. Scalia refused to return the money. Only after making a credible threat
of legal action did Scalia finally return his security deposit. Apparently, Scalia
had a hard time getting over his legal obligation to return money that wasn't his.

Arnold Ziffle from Green Acres was an early hero of mine. Porky stuttered but he wasn't stupid. The Three Little Pigs kicked the big bad wolf's ass.

I believe you're being too hard on pigs.

Dumbass fuck! Roe v. Wade was 25 years ago! If I have to "get over" something that's not even 8 years old yet, then you get over Roe v. Wade! Evil fuck!!

He's just mad that he went hunting with Cheney but wasn't "in" enough to get his face shot.

10. The sad thing about that...
...is that it's probably the nicest thing one can say about Scalia. I mean, you gave him mammal status. Personally, I think he's closer to a reptile, maybe a Komodo Dragon --dripping poison from his foul maw.

..by Bush the Selected, because he started an occupation based on outright lies. Not to mention countless innocent Iraqi civilians or all the Katrina victims...

Yeah, why not just get over all the lives lost because RW nut-job activist judges decided to install a sociopathic primate in the White House?

Scalia is as delusional as he is repulsive and ignorant.

46. Scalia needs to go hunting more often with Dick
Maybe Dick will shoot em were Scalia deserves it, in the ass. What a pathetic excuse for a supreme court justice. I am convinced more than ever that Bush had the whole election planned out, ready to steal it if it came down to Florida. I don't remember Al Gore having any "good friends" on the bench but Scalia just happens to go hunting with Dick. Perhaps Scalia would like to be dropped off in Iraq without a map or put in a sports dome with no air conditioning and food or water. Then he can wait and wait and wait for Bush to get off his lazy ass help him.
