Anyone know the name/number of the insurance law...
...that changed rates based not on your driving record, but where you live?

This might be a California state law.

Thank you.

1. Do you mean REDLINING?
Where your insurance goes through the roof if you move into a *rough* ie, poor neighborhood?

2. I think so...
...but is "redlining" the name of the law, or the name of the practice?

i have Beetle Convertible, when i had a Honda Accord i was paying $130 a month. live in Sacramento county which has a fair share of stolen cars, my Acura got stolen which lead me to buy a Honda.

6. The law passed...
...but the insurance companies ignored it!

In 2006, they were given 2 years to comply. SO, they have until July of this year.

I just found this LA Times link.

7. that's some shit right there, also i read earlier this year that Allstate decided to stop writing
homeowners policies in Ca. which imo is an asshole move and should also disqualify them writing car insurance polices.

Here is the link i posted way back when

10. your honda is probably on one of those *stolen* car lists
Cops keep lists of *favorite* cars to steal per area, and IIRC Honda has always been in the top three nationwide.

11. it was and when i bought it my agent just sighed. Usually in this area Civics
are the most stolen Honda's so i when i got my accord i though it would cool, it was a little less to insure that over the acura but the vw is the cheapest, apparently no one wants my car but me which is good because i love it.
