"Back in the day" people knew how to have fun/enjoy/share their feeling *sigh* |
|
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePRDdSwSMMkPlease post other (better) examples.....but, MAN.....we don't 'enjoy' each other anymore....we just are taught to be separate from each other ~and that's just 'not right'....we aren't separate ~ we're all connected! Peace, M_Y_H

1. There was another thread leaning in this direction |

but dealing with the possible consequences of gas shortages. One consequence might be the return to neighborhoods where people live and work, and thereby get to know one another. Probably part of the problem too is our addiction to TV and video games and computers (I'm guilty here) which are all solitary pasttimes, unlike the barbeques, card parties, and pick-up ball games of a bygone generation.

3. Back in the day life was brutish and the competition for scarce resources led to clans and gangs. |

Just depends on what you consider to be back in the day. One thing for certain, despite the corrupting influence of TV, there never was a day of utopia.

There never was/nor will be
I was just suggesting that perhpas there might have been a better 'springboard' than there is today....but even with the springboard of 'back in the day' we never got there.....although our 'grounding' is pretty d*mn good/solid.
Oh, We're f*cked *sigh* :sarcasm: ~ hope springs eternal :-)

4. Yes I do believe you are right |

We don't love each other now we just suspect them of wanting to get us or steal our money. And many of them do. Even music has deteriorated into violence or mediocrity. Can you name any contemporary song writers like Carol King,McCartney and Lennon, Billy Joel, or even Harry Nielson? And their music was about having fun, love, and peace. We some how allowed the negative forces to take over our culture and change it to separation, suspicion and violence. And no one seems to know what to do but wring our hands and dream about the good old days.

6. Yep.....but we don't have go along with the negative forces. |
|
We don't have to applaud the "bad rapps's" at the "awards", etc. (as one example).....
Each and EVERY ONE of us has a 'voice' of some sort. We need to USE OUR VOICES - if you don't like it SAY so....or don't support/applaud it! It's really as simple as that, isn't it?
