It's time to stock up on the ramen noodles!
Quick! But before you do, start a rumor that the big grocery stores are limiting the amounts people can buy of the stuff, and make sure your investments purchaser makes a solid buy of the stock in the companies making the stuff. You'll be richer than you ever imagined in a couple of weeks.

And then get yourself interviewed buying the noodles so that the WSJ will make it sound like the noodles are going through a really, really tough time.

Make sure you have plenty of recipes for the noodles, because you're going to be either eating them for a while after you do these things, or you'll be making a substantial donation to the local soup kitchen.

Oh yeah, I forgot--they've already done that with rice. Freaking morons. They will be sick of eating rice after awhile, too--but if it makes them realize that an extremely sizable amount of the world's population subsists on rice, perhaps this shit with "stocking up" on rice will be stopped. Nothing like causing a panic when it's artificially created--at least here in the States.

1. Could we do it with beer? I wouldn't mind stocking up on that.
Does anyone remember how we had a peanut shortage when Jimmy Carter was in office?

7. in this country
The most popular beers have rice as an adjunct grain in addition to barley. But, with the price of barley going up, and the worldwide hops shortage... Sigh...

19. Not sure if you are aware of this
but during Carter's Presidency, his entire peanut farm was put into trust and run by the trustee of said trust.
When Carter got out of office, his peanut farm was near bankrupt.
Instead of being upset about this obvious mismanagement of his estate...the Carter's looked at it as an opportunity to do humanitarian things that they had always been interested in doing....in essence, making lemons out of lemonade.
So...if you are trying to insinuate that Carter manipulated ANY market to make money for himself...let me stop you before you make an idiot out of yourself.

11. Rice is the primary staple in food throughout eastern Asia
Many other staples like corn and barley are viewed as animal feed.

You take into account that 90%+ of everyone India and east eat rice at every meal and that's a lot of rice.

This is where the run on rice comes from

12. Ramen noodles are O.K.
Long. long time ago I used to eat them all the time, I guess I got burned out. I had one a couple days ago and it tasted alright. I hope I done have to live off them (again!). Anyhow, here at home we a well and an a natural spring running out front.
If we ever need to use the fresh water we will have to boil it anyway.

15. I am neither Asian or Hispanic and I have rice nearly everyday.
I can buy 10 pounds of fresh chicken for under $5 and I cook it in my solar oven. I then use the drippings and juice from the chicken to make the rice. My veggie of choice is broccoli, which I can usually get for under $1 a pound. I frequently add cheese to the rice and then the broccoli. Also, rice+beans=complete protein. There's a very good reason why a big chunk of the world's population has rice as a stape of their diet.

Ramen noodles have a lot of fat and usually are high in sodium. You can live on them, but they ain't good for you.
