South African food prices cause consumer stress
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=352896

n South Africa, food prices are rocketing and contributing significantly to inflation, which this week hit double digits for the first time in five years.

Consumers are also having to contend with interest rate increases, the threat of a 53 percent increase in the cost of electricity and the spectre of paying higher prices for petrol.

Economists have pointed out that the rise in food prices is an international phenomenon with the emerging countries now eating more meat due to their rising wealth.

The other major reason was boifuel production and drought in major food producing countries.

5. Nah... the previous gas shortage
was in the mid seventies... not the 80's.

And that was strictly a political move by OPEC.

This one is much different.

And, yes, we have a true moron for Pretzlenut.

But we ignored the warning signs in the 70's, 80's and 90's.
