I'm not getting a rebate check, and it's my own choosing
I didn't file for my refund last year, so the IRS sent me a 1040A with instructions that I needed to fill it out if I wanted my "rebate".

I didn't have to file it, I just had to submit the 1040A to them.

I'm sick of Bush's phoney tricks, and his dog and pony shows.

If I got the money now, I'd only waste it.

Something tells me I'm going to need it even more further on down the road.

18. I say, "We're the new middle class! Too much money for the 'rebate' and too little money to have
received Bush's 2001 tax cut."

11. "The “rebate” is actually an “advance” on a new credit that will be presented on 2008 tax returns.

How Will the Economic Stimulus Tax Rebate Affect 2008 Tax Returns?

http://www.consumerismcommentary.com/2008/02/08/how-will-the-economic-stimulus-tax-rebate-affect-2008-tax-returns/

Updated March 18, 2008.

First of all, there will be no effect to 2007 tax returns. The “rebate” that will be signed into law
next week is actually an “advance” on a new credit that will be presented on 2008 tax returns.

In April 2009 or thereabouts, when you file your taxes for 2008, the IRS will run the calculation for the
stimulus rebate again. If the results show that you would have received more (due to an additional child,
for instance), you will be sent the difference (or owe less on your final tax bill). If your results show
that you would have received a smaller rebate, then you get to keep the difference.

To summarize, the rebate that will be sent out in May 2008 is a credit to the taxes you’ll owe on 2008
income, but it is a new credit, so you don’t have to “pay it back.”

Here two important things to remember:

* In order to receive the rebate in approximately May 2008, you need to file your 2007 tax return.

* The amount of the rebate is calculated using your earned income; if you earned over $3,000 in 2007, you’ll be eligible,
but if you had an adjusted gross income of over $75,000, then the rebate will be reduced by 5% of your overage.

7. Likewise. I will not become part of the Torture Government in this manner.
I refuse to accept silence money from these torturers.

Also, their is the issue of just how stupid it is
to borrow money from our grandchildren
to bribe the voters just before an election.

12. Sorry .... I Just Don't Think That's Very Smart: Take The Money!
"I refuse to accept silence money from these torturers."

Why not accept the money and use it to oppose torture and other criminal activity by the government?

You could contribute the $600 to the anti-war movement for starters!

Never thought of that?

Well, if that's the case file for it now!

10. and just think those who use that money to fill up their cars with
gas just give it back to the Oil Corporations. Sick. That rebate check will do nothing for the economy, this is bush's band aid on a hemorrhage that won't stop bleeding.

13. Mine in no way will be wasted. My $600 is nearly 2 weeks take-home pay.
I have energy bills and other expenses just to keep my home together. With the little money I make I still pay plenty in taxes and I'm happy to get back whatever I can.
