Aaron Brown to host "Wide Angle" on PBS
I always liked this guy. :)

LOS ANGELES — Aaron Brown, the former CNN anchor who found cable TV an awkward fit, is joining PBS' "Wide Angle" series and ending his on-air absence of more than two years.

"If I was going to do broadcast journalism again, be a public person again ... then it had to be something different from what I'd done," Brown told The Associated Press. "You can count on one hand how many gigs there are like this."

Anchoring "Wide Angle," a weekly public affairs series with a global focus, offers the chance "to work in an environment where people just think about making good TV and good journalism," Brown said.

-snip-

Reflecting on his time at the channel, Brown said he became "oddly emblematic" of what he termed an "anti-tabloid guy."
"I didn't practice the `high church' of journalism all the time, but I think there was some sense that I was uncomfortable in that other, tabloidy world, and I think viewers knew that and I couldn't pull it off," he said.

11. But wouldn't that be a great show
Have Alton put away the omlettes and start explaining the Valerie Plame outing or the 2002 Senate Iraq resolution, with his trademark wit and humor, then everybody would understand.

Great idea.

Never happen.

10. I wrote him in 2003 re: why only pro-war "experts" on his show
He wrote me back saying that anti-war coverage/point of views were "irrelevant," very vibey "I'm a professional" tone - when I got his response I thought, WHAT AN ASSHOLE! I wish I had kept it...this was in the heady "let's go take out Saddam and then everything will fall in place" days, or should I say DAZE....

13. And a hypocrite!
Cuz now he's all, "I'm so much better than cable news," bullshit, let's see some of his pre-invasion shows.

Running up to Iraq he would have "expert panels" consisting totally of retired generals "debating" kind of like, "should we invade Iraq THIS way....or THAT way?" I was like....HOW ABOUT NOT AT ALL???

I asked him why they don't have the weapons inspectors or other "experts" besides these warmongering ex-generals he was like "when the subject is war, the military are relevant and everything else is irrelevant"
