So, who would you rather have a beer with? |
|
'Having a beer' being defined as spending an hour or so in conversation.
A university professor & veteran of the anti-war movement.
Or,
A minister & veteran of the US military.
Or,
Does it depend on who's the better & better informed conversationalist?
I'd take the prof any day of the week. We could talk about how ridiculous it is that organized religion is even discussed as part of political life in the US.

1. It kind of depends on who the person in the first part is |
|
If it's someone like Alexander Cockburn, I think I'd choose the minister, lol.

10. Oh, he's so busy being brilliant it would get tedious |
|
Imagine, sitting there trying to drink beer while that bore droned on about how wonderful he was. I had to call his house once and whomever answered the phone (not him) wouldn't take a message and told me I had to call back in ten minutes.

7. How about someone I'd like to have a beer BECAUSE of... |
|
I can think of a few of those. They mostly started showing up around 2001.

8. I'd love to have a beer with Michio Kaku, |
|
a professor and a strong critic of the Iraq debacle. I probably wouldn't understand half of what he says but I admire the guy's brilliance and I'd do more listening that anything.

13. He has a weekly radio show on Pacifica Radio |
|
His discussions often go far beyond the subject of physics, with commentary on societal problems and the terrible situation in Iraq.
