I shit you not!

Chris Matthews Scolds Media For Getting Too Cozy With Bush

Chris Matthews took time out of covering fake scandals and reciting GOP narratives on Monday’s Hardball to take a dig at members of the media who attended this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner:

“…It’s one thing to gather for events like this in Washington, it’s another one to laugh and applaud - to be charmed when the president puts on a little show. It’s harmless stuff, except that the people yucking it up in that scene are the people who are professionally committed to calling it when the people in power get it wrong.”

However, here's a pre-codpiece Matthews Moment.

Remember back to "the events of 9/11(tm)," the final weeks of the 2001 baseball season, the playoffs and, finally, the World Series. Il Duce threw out the ceremonial first pitch before game 1 at Yankee Stadium and Matthews just melted into full fawning, bootlicking Bushean suck-up, man-crush mode.

Apparently, back in November 2001, he actually described the great moment in these words:

"There are some things you can't fake. Either you can throw a strike from 60 feet or you can't. Either you can rise to the occasion on the mound at Yankee Stadium with 56,000 people watching or you can't.

"On Tuesday night, George W. Bush hit the strike zone in the House that Ruth Built . . .

"This is about knowing what to do at the moment you have to do it -- and then doing it. It's about that "grace under pressure" that Hemingway gave as his very definition of courage."

Hemmingway... Babe Ruth... George W Bush... Pop quiz: Which of these three doesn't belong in this group?

But who cares if he's a mass murdering asshole, world-class kleptomaniac, war criminal, torturer, fascist, election thief (two counts) and malevolent dim-witted fraud...

Although I've never actually seen him, after reading through years of these kinds of reports on the truly crazy shit that passes for political analysis on Matthews' show, I think I'd rather be torn apart by feral pigs than have to watch more than 10 seconds of this astoundingly awful garbage.

5. He is starting to distance himself from the regime...
so he can cozy up to the next President.

He is as guilty as the rest of the right wing media whores. His shows are always heavy with neocons and bu$h sympathizers.

6. This from a man who...
Proclaimed that "we're all Neocons now!"

This from a man who voted for Lil' Dumbya not once, but TWICE!!

This from a man who was a shill for the Republicans and the administration and admonished the Democrats for not appealing to patriots and "the regular man."

PLEASE, TWEETY...Go sit down somewhere and wipe the spittle off your mouth!!

7. It amazes me
that Matthews is so differential and gentle on McCain who promises to continue on with the war that Matthews so eloquently opposed before it started. Sometimes I think Tweety has some bizarre multiple personality disorder.

Tip O'Neill must be spinning in his grave.

I wish he's turn the heat up on some of the preachers McCain has attached himself to.

14. This is typical Tweedy.
One day he's sucking up the next day he's not.

I think more than anything this is his ego showing. He thinks of himself as being a big time player. This is him saying to those he considers below him on the media food chain "You sniveling shits can't pal around with the people in power because you're not me, you're not Chris Matthews."

9. Did he then talk about the fact that Bush "glimmers" with "sunny nobility"?

Or has the glimmer now worn off the turd Tweety's been polishing for the last seven years?

11. "...to be charmed when the President puts on a little show..." Please, make it stop, make it STOP!
I think I pulled my stomach muscle from laughing!

(snip)
Like Elvis, Matthews can't help falling in love. And also like the King--who developed a thing for both Richard Nixon and J. Edgar Hoover late in life--the object of Matthews's affection is invariably a tough-talking, self-styled Republican macho-man. And when he gets going on one of these guys, his style of punditry owes more to, say, Tiger Beat or Teen People than the Trilateral Commission.

"He looks great in a military uniform. He looks great in that cowboy costume he wears when he goes West," he cooed. "We're proud of our President. Americans love having a guy as President, a guy who has a little swagger, who's physical, who's not a complicated guy like Clinton.... Women like a guy who's President. Check it out."
