4. What? You don't like cute, shy, Canadian Indi-Rockers?
Btw, I'm 45 and had to Google that song when it was on every 10 minutes on TV, because it was driving me nuts.

23. I'm a guy. I don't watch commercials
there might be something on another channel and I might be missing it. Although I do know who Feist is and I love her music.

6. You don't remember that iPod-Mini-video commercial from about 6 months ago?
That damn commercial must have played about every 10 minutes on Comedy Central for about 6 months.

14. Watch it again, but this time...
...notice that that was all done in on single shot!

If you can find it, there was a video at YouTube about how the video was made, it's worth the time it takes to find it. It was all done with a robotic camera and some incredible choreography.

7. "for those of you over 50".... MOST of DU is over 50 !
Fuck that. That fucking attitude is one big reason I'm not 'on board" with Obama.

11. I'm past the big 5-0... but
I keep hearing this crap and some really negative comments from the 'O'
camp about people over 50 and it's really been pissing me the fuck off! :grr:

Sorry but I thought you were one of them.... and yeah, I'm sort of in bad mood tonight.

I apologize. :pals:

8. Fifty next week ... a Feist fan for almost three years.
I guess I was, technically, under fifty when I first "discovered" her and Broken Social Scene.

Some of us old dinosaurs never lost our love of music, from Billie Holliday and Paul Whiteman all the way through to Leslie Feist and The Arcade Fire.

Music is ageless; music is timeless.

and can't think of a reason why I would want to remember anything from an ipod commercial.

15. Her CD is pretty good.
I'm 63 years old and knew of her before the iPod commercial.

BTW, Portishead's "Third" is out and it's really good. Pre ordered it from iTunes. "Machine Gun" is hot. The official video comes with pre orders. I don't know if it comes with regular orders.

Also John Vanderslice has a new CD. "Emerald City."

17. CD? Oh, is that the thing they used to sell in "record stores" back in the 1990's?
Just kidding.

Wow, you must work at some uber-cool place to know your music that well, but then again, I only heard about "Magnetic Fields" about 6 months ago, so I'm not exactly keeping up these days.

20. My wife is a musician, and I'm retired so I have the access and the time
to keep up with new music. I'm more into world and jazz, but I like any music well done. Love Wilco, been a fan for years. NPR is a great resource for learning about emerging acts. I believe that's where I first learned of Feist. It was probably a review at the end of Fresh Air. Imogen Heap was segue in All Things Considered. Mariza was also from NPR.

BTW, the record stores are closing all over our town. We've lost at least two in the past two months. Inflexibility in pricing by the record companies, made a big opening for Apple to exploit. Why pay $18.95 for something I can get for $9.99? Anyway, desktop music publishing and self promotion is the way to go. Fuck Sony.

Just heard a Weight Watchers ad that borrows a very recognizable Vanderslice lick.

I've heard The Magnetic Fields, but never got into their music. They're good and I like their choice of instruments.

22. It's FEIST.
Leslie Feist.

I've loved her since I first heard her.

And why? Because she sounds NOTHING like what you'd hear on American Idol.

Oh, and I'm 49.

I thought I had it right, but I guess I switched the E & I again. Sorry, no disrespect to Feist intended.

Edited on Tue Apr-29-08 11:10 PM by Atman
I'm not over 50...yet. Just turned 49. But I'll match my iPod playlist against yours any day (I have two Feist "albums" but I consider it kinda radio-poppy, but I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way), and then I'll kick your ass snowboarding on the double diamonds, followed by a humiliation playing beach volleyball (twos, no pussy six shit) and maybe some ultimate frisbee afterward.

Age doesn't mean dick, junior.

Unless you let it, or think your lazy-ass fat Cheesy Poof parents represent everyone older than you.

(on edit, I love how the "old guys" have to correct junior on who Leslie Feist is!)

26. It was a JOKE! I guest you don't stay up late enough to watch Colbert, eh?
Check out the show's intro: <http://www.spike.com/episode/27147/st/2975951>

The Colbert Report is all about attitude.

BTW, I'm 45 and I'm sure I could make you eat a LOT of sand any day you want to take me on in Doubles Volleyball, "Connecticut, undeclared," been playing that way since 1983 in SoCal.

27. Uh...don't stay up late enough to watch Colbert?
I posted my response AFTER midnight, EST. Hmm.

I've won Mens B tournaments...but I grant you I'm not an A player, so maybe you could kick my ass. How would I know? It's only a message board, and I'm just reading a lot of "attitude." What I can't stay up late enough for is bullshit. So I'm going to bed.

:hi:
