Air America Radio: Rosanne Barr on....and it is horrendous
These guest celeb slots suck--with the exception of Belzer and Phil DOnahue who is supposedly coming up soon...

What is happening with Sam Seder? Anyone?

Would she take it?

3. Sam did a show with Maron his morning
on sammy cam.

And I agree about Roseanne. I'm listening because I don't like the Randi substitute, but it's just awful. I really like Joy Behar, but she was also unlistenable last week.

Most of the celebs just sucked and it becamepainful to watch.

They should just give it to Seder or Belzer and be done with it. (I prefer Belzer myself)

on edit: Or Me. I'd be happy with Me as the host. They wouldn't...but I would

6. Sam said he and Maron will each host in that time slot later
I think the week of May 5th-9th. He'll do 2 days, Marc will do 2 days, and they'll do 1 day together. Sam views it as a semi-audition for both of them. I'd love to have them both in that slot!

12. I hate Mark Maron, but love Seder!
Maron's shtick is talking to his friends, or talking about his friends--what kind of radio is that? I've never found him to be funny. I agree that these celeb hosts have made for horrendous radio.

to hook into someone permanently. As much as I'll enjoy Ron, Donohue, and Belzer, I think they should give the slot to Sam. He's earned it.

Edited on Tue Apr-29-08 03:07 PM by SargeUNN
go to Nova M Radio website and stream the Randi Rhodes Show. Randi is off until Thursday because of her moving back to Florida, but Stacey Taylor is sitting in and doing a pretty good job, much better listening. You can also go to http://1480kphx.com to get a stream and then tune into the Jeff Farias Show which I believe most here will enjoy.

15. Air America has made very few, if any good decisions
regarding programming. IMO. Giving Roseanne Barr a venue is just giving the GOP a big fat club to beat the hell out of their brain dead voters with, pounding them into submission, excusing them to vote against their best interest by quoting Roseanne's "brilliance".

23. After reading your post, I went in to check it out.
My XM radio is in the bedroom. I have to say, I think you're wrong. I heard a fascinating discussion about the main stream media. They had an expert and brought in lots of callers. In the 45 minutes I listened, they didn't bash any candidates. Maybe that's what you're missing.

27. rosanne calls the democratic party the "democrat" party
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 02:58 AM by orleans
said she thinks the pukes were right, because our party isn't supposed to have the market on democracy. (thanks for giving the pukes so much credit when the reason they refer to us as the "democrat party" is just to belittle and make us appear trite)

the show today sounded all tranqed out (ie like the two of them are on tranquilizers)

i heard part of mckinney--it was good to hear her again but i wasn't able to listen after they broke for commercial.

i didn't hear candidate bashing.

i did hear a lot of "cool. (long pause) that's cool. (pause) yeah. (pause) that's really cool"

it reminded me of the good old days, sitting in a friend's bedroom, smoking dope and talking about the meaning of life. when everything was really cool (and far out)

24. I now listen to Stacy Taylor instead of the first hour of Rachel Maddow
I can't stand the fact that they have decided to start simulcasting "The Road to The White House" from MSNBC. I listen to Air America to get away from those clowns. I don't need them polluting the airwaves at Air America too! Stacy's show is at this link from 6:00-9:00 EDT. http://www.sandiego1700.com/pages/main Much better than MSNBC! I have already voiced my displeasure to the morons that are running Air America.

26. Roseanne wasn't that bad. She doesn't whine like Randi.
She was on with a guy named Johnny Argent. She started out saying that she loved talk radio and used to call Alan Berg all the time in Denver.

He made a joke about McCain -- he said that in Arizona, when fall comes in December, even the lizards have skin cancer. So McCain should know better than to be out in the sun.

Today she was talking about female soldiers being raped in Iraq & PTSD with an expert who has written a book. Later she talked to Cynthia McKinney, former Congresswoman, who is running for president.

Yesterday it was Dr. Stephanie Woolhandler (what a name!) talking about universal health care in America and how no candidate is really in favor of universal single-payer health care.

Check it out: http://airamerica.com/American+Afternoon

I thought she was better than Joy Behar. Roseanne is a lot more intelligent than I thought she was. I found out that she was pretty bright when she had a TV talk show.

I used to like Randi but she got whinier and kept getting flakier.

Roseanne's shows are informative, so far, and educational.

Only two 'Seder on Sunday' shows left. He will be doing a few of the 3-6 P.M. shows next week.

Then he is probably gone.

30. I'm not sure Phil Donohue counts as a celebrity
Unlike Rosanne or Belzer, he's actually done something worth celebrating. And as the name implies, a celebrity is someone who's famous for never having done anything worth celebrating.

(Or perhaps I'm being too harsh. Roseanne's show was a breath of fresh air in the age of Full House & Cosby. And of course Belzer gave us years worth of entertainment as the lead singer from Sha Na Na).

31. Air America is horrendous
They have made almost nothing but bad decisions from the start. I'm amazed they're still in business. Jones Radio, regardless of what you think of Schultz/Miller, knows how to run a successful radio biz. The jury is still out with NovaM, but they seem to be heading in the right direction.

32. Aw, poor Roseanne.
I love her dearly. Her show was brilliant comedy, and she has a genuine concern for the issues that affect working class people.

But I'll be damned if she doesn't always come across as a crackpot when she's talking politics. I totally agree with her and still find her annoying. It's just not where she excels.

She should stick to expressing herself through comedy.

33. Roseanne
Is a great person and an actual Progressive. I worked with her for a week once, so I am a tad predisposed to like her, but I can also say she's a Democrat like I am. Not a candidate fluffer like some. Her views are always opinion in the moment, she changes her mind and you know, that is a good thing. Indicates thinking and evolution.

Roseanne keeps a website and blog, called Roseanneworld. Look up her archives, read away. She goes off like mad. Argent has some great stuff there too, he's pretty dang sharp. Don't expect to agree with Roseanne consistantly, Roseanne doesn't either.

She's a comic, not a pundit. She has actual pre-fame movement roots as an activist. Like many of us, she started out hoping for Gore/Edwards or Kucinich. Just saying. For once here I am standing up and saying, I know for a fact Roseanne is a Progressive, and that her main concerns are for the working people in this country, not for the feelings of some millionaire Senators. In that, I stand with her.

And people constantly take her jokes as serious statements. Consantly.
