Tweety keeps talking about Wright & his comment "God Dam America" does anyone
Edited on Tue Apr-29-08 06:09 PM by EV_Ares
ever remember him saying anything when the President said the Constitution is nothing but a goddam piece of paper?

Not condoning the Rev Wright's remarks by any means but I was pretty offended when he said that about the constitution but don't remember the media picking it up much.

1. Yep, but the African American girl that he had on set him straight on the Church...
And the fact that Rev. Wrights recent language was not anything common in the Church.

Edited on Tue Apr-29-08 06:11 PM by chimpsrsmarter
and that's what they, they are not actual news show are running with the Wright story non-stop. It's so far past ridiculous that the device that could measure the amount has not yet been invented.

And when the primary season is finally over whoever the dem is that wins it going to get this kind of treatment non-stop inorder to make you not want to even bother to go out an vote.

4. just before that omnipresent quote
Wright explained that damn comes from the same root as condemn, and that God will condemn the slave traders, drug dealers and other thugs, instead of blessing them.and that's what led into "God bless America? ..."
out of context again. This so-called media coverage is sick.

7. I agree totally with you, and many of the things that the Rev. said are no doubt true....
The only major problem (having thought about it over night) is that his timing sucked for coming out to speak publicly in with the content that he used.

5. Watching Tweety as well here, I truly think that Tweety likes Barack....
Andrea Mitchel kept trying to talk over Tamron (I think her name was) and Tweety cut her off.. hmmm Just my observation.

11. In Tweety's world it's OK for Hagee et al to say
god told Bush to kill all Muslims. So it's OK to kill in the name of their Christian god but it's not OK for anyone to damn them.

Fuck all religion.

9. This is just so much fake outrage
Truly, folks who think that the 15-second snippet of Jeremiah Wright’s sermon is the sum and substance of the entirety of his remarks probably also think that the song “American Pie” is about driving your car to the levee. Or that all of opera is nothing more than the screeching of the sopranos from “Ride of the Valkyries.”

It’s nonsense on a par with the Dean Scream video. It’s dishonest, and everybody who’s talking about it as if that snippet is representative of Wright’s message that day knows it’s dishonest.

And it won’t stop because Tweety and his ilk like to work themselves up by reciting narratives that please themselves.

10. If I had a god I'd say
god damn Tweety, but from my perspective that has as much meaning as god bless or damn America.

12. What bothers me is....
no one will talk about the multitudes of egregious actions against the African community...past & present. Why doesn't one talking head mention Tuskegee or even the unegual mortgage rates African-Americans end up with? Past & Present. Tweety screeches "God Damn America" and NO ONE counters with the fact that the US is NOT perfect and has done many bad things against humanity, past & present. Tweety acted so indignant while he quoted Wright saying that our soldiers are equivelant to terrorists. Well he should ask an Iraqi survivor of a US bomb or bullet or TERRORIZED they are. I am so mad I can spit!

13. they are doing this becuz smear is their thing
If Jesus was running they would question his haircut and his Middle eastern appearance, they say these things becuz the GOP has nothing to run on so these smears are fed to the press to repeat as news. Quite frankly, I am sick and tired of this pastor attack.
I had a Catholic priest who was removed from the altar during a sermon for a needed
rest. We would told that he was suffering from nerves and overwork. What difference
does that make in my life. Is it a big reflection on my parents' judgment that we
went to that church. No, no and no. We accepted the fact that Father X would rant
and rave on and on about sin, and that we were all headed to you know where asap.

14. I don't recall him or many others in the media saying anything
about Pat Robertson's blaming of 9/11 on Americans he disagreed with (feminists, gays, abortionists, etc.), and his claiming that we deserved it because too many of us have "displeased God." I don't recall him saying anything about the congresscritters or ministers who blamed Katrina on the same thing and who said Katrina victims deserved it and that this country was in for more of the same.

I don't recall him or anyone else in the media saying anything about the outrageously anti-American statements of Falwell, either. Or Bill O'LIElly's invitation to bomb San Francisco. And I sure as hell don't recall him or many others in the media saying anything about McCain's "spiritual advisor", Haggerman (sp?), and his virulently hateful anti-Catholic rantings, among many other rantings. Etc., etc., etc. I don't recall wall-to-wall nonstop media coverage of any of these.

I wonder why. Oh, golly gee, I don't know, could it possibly be because the above are, hmmmmmm..........white and far-right?
