How much can we REALLY trust Factcheck.org?
I always trusted them for the most part, but now I'm questioning their motives. I got the following from them in an email. At first blush, what they say could be right, but I've heard earlier recordings played of McNut saying the opposite of what he's saying now. On her show tonight, Rachel played 4 different opinions McNut has had on staying in Iraq since 2005.

One ad shows selected portions of McCain's comments that a 100-year U.S. presence in Iraq would be "fine with me." The ad uses dramatic images of war and violence, and omits any mention that McCain was speaking of a peaceful presence like that in Japan or Korea.

An earlier ad attacks McCain for saying the nation's economy is "prosperous" and "better off overall" than eight years ago. The ad uses a couple of incorrect statistics to argue otherwise. It says the country has lost 1.8 million jobs when, in fact, it has gained nearly 5.4 million, and it says gasoline prices have risen 200 percent, when the actual figure is 139 percent.

1. Internet rule #1
Never believe anything you read on the net until you research it yourself, especially anything from the government

2. Factcheck.org strikes out
the Decembrist: Factcheck.org strikes out
Factcheck.org operates at a level of amateurishness that is totally inappropriate for the position of final arbiter of truth that it has claimed for itself...

3. All sources are suspect.
Opinions are not facts. Just because you have a web address, that doesn't mean you an honest, or ethical, or not taking money, or unbiased, or ...

4. I know you are all right. I guess I'm a bit disappointed though.
I NEVER believe anything I read on the net unless I check for other sources, and usually I'm much more inclined to believe AP, CNN, MSNBC or one of the MSM news agencies. I never knew, and still don't, know who puts the info on Factcheck. I guess it's partly because of the name, and most of what I've read there appeared to be correct. It's a damn shame we can't trust anybody!
