NYT- "It Was The MOST Forthright Repudiation That We Can Remember"
Editorial
Published: April 30, 2008
Mr. Obama and Rev. Wright

It was the most forthright repudiation of an out-of-control supporter that we can remember. We would like to say that it will finally take the racial charge out of this campaign. We’re not that naïve.

...................

It is an injustice, a legacy of the racist threads of this nation’s history, but prominent African-Americans are regularly called upon to explain or repudiate what other black Americans have to say, while white public figures are rarely, if ever, handed that burden.

Senator John McCain has continued to embrace a prominent white supporter, Pastor John Hagee, whose bigotry matches that of Mr. Wright. Mr. McCain has not tried hard enough to stop a race-baiting commercial — complete with video of Mr. Wright — that is being run against Mr. Obama in North Carolina.

..................

This country needs a healthy and open discussion of race. Mr. Obama’s repudiation of Mr. Wright is part of that. His opponents also have a responsibility — to repudiate the race-baiting and make sure it stops.

1. Race should not and must not be an issue beyond our shared issues
of health care, ending the war, economic opporunities for all, ending the recession, bringing down gas prices, etc. etc. The rest can come later after the real work has been completed.

2. Will they make Obama deny Wright three times
IMO, Wright's only crime is being an honest man speaking out in a time when the masses need to hear some plain truth. I watched the Moyer interview and found Wright to be a very dynamic, insightful, and eloquent man who carries the courage of his convictions.

3. Honestly, my first thought was, "at least Falwell is in HELL"!
I listened to the Rev. Wright's thoughts and feelings over the weekend. So did my family.

WE APPLAUSED HIM!!!

My family are "mutts", so to speak,...being a mix of immigrants albeit fairly pale in skin color.

We just do NOT GIVE A SHIT about the color of skin because we ARE HUMAN BEINGS,...mostly.

We all agree that there are "humans" making our existence unworthy of leasing on this earth. We figure, the Supreme will kick us out,...and, that's okay 'cause the most greedy will go first in spite of their very VERY (trillions) expensive "safe dwelling" that will go,...1st.

Never too special when it comes to how the universe decides to operate.

4. Not To Mention That McLame Has A White Supremacist As An Advisor
Why doesn't anyone, ANYONE, ask him about Richard Quinn?

7. What the hell is an "out of control supporter"?
Politicians are supposed to obey their constituents, not the other way around.
