So I come home from ten days in Mexico City.
Now I do read the paper down there, even though my parents get a paper at home that USED to be center, and now is somewhat to the right... it is down right radical compared to the local rag.
So here are some of the headlines that were absent from US News.
The HUGE story of the ten days was the Progressive Front taking over the Halls of the Mexican Congress over the new energy policy and privatization of PEMEX. Granted, PEMEX could be better managed, but this is besides the point. Imagine if you will the Black and Progressive Caucus taking over Congress and preventing anybody from working... oh well I can dream, can I? And yes the story is far more complicated than just that... since they were able to continue to work at alternate sites.
And yes, they got the national discussion they wanted for 120 days. Oh did I mention there was EXTENSIVE coverage of this across the media and all political spectrums? Hell, the President even went ON RECORD as to how wrong this was while in New Orleans in a meeting with Harper and Bush... I am sure this made it into the US Papers as a banner announcement... oh wait it didn't...
Then there was the RICE rationing in the US... now that was down right weird to listen on Mexican News... but hells bells, the paper covered EXTENSIVELY the food crisis that is now spreading to the US AND Europe... not to mention Mexico, where food independence is a long distant memory... as well as other places in the developing world.
Then I come home... don't get me wrong I love Keith... but I had to go... WTF? We have food shortages, partly due to ethanol production... but it is WRIGHT now, WRIGHT ALL THE TIME?
It was yet another example of how we have truly gone through the looking glass... and our Media will NOT cover what truly matters until we take to the streets at a national level and simply refuse to go home. This is why the food crisis and food riots will come to the States as well, and will surprise the living daylights out of most Muricans....
Oh and for the global warming denial crowd? It is almost limited to the US... but then again, why would people deny it in Mexico City? Weather is down right bizarre. Hell, I was told by my seventy something mother to bring shorts... because this was the hottest April in the last hundred years... this is Mexico City where shorts were unheard off... did I mention the rains? Ahead by at least a month?

VERY valuable and instructive to hear how and what is regarded as news in other parts of the world.
But WAIT! Britney Spears and that broad from "The View!" And did you hear Star Jones is getting divorced?!?!?!? Priorities, my friends. Priorities.
:sarcasm:

no screaming over each other... none of that nonsense
It was civilized discussion of the issues of the day... with full respect
I know GASP!
Can you imagine Buchannan and I don't know Maddow having a gentle nice, normal voice, discussion?
