Bush Administration claims there's nothing it can do about high gas prices
Even if that's true, that Bush can sign no bills or anything to help out, Bush could still, you know, use the power of the bully pulpit to urge people to walk and take public transit more.

So yeah, there is something they can do about it.

If Bush doesn't want to use the bully pulpit to actually help the American People out, maybe Congress should take any and all funding away from the Bush Administration when it comes to PR, maybe even issue a ban on Bush telling the American People things.

And/or we could get members of the Bush Administration under oath saying there is nothing they can do about high gas prices and then impeach them for lying under oath.

1. If I could shut them up, their war propaganda machine would be first
on my list. They seem to do the most damage by feeding their 28% koolaid-drinking masses.

Of course, they already don't tell us enough, like what Cheney and the oil execs were talking about, who gave what specific orders in firing the regional DoJ attorneys or outing Valerie Plame. Heck, they'd probably go bomb Iran and not say a word to us about it.

5. Cheney jawboned the Saudis -- unfortunately what he said, apparently, was, "Do not pump more oil."
The Exxon-Mobil profits are doing fine and no doubt Cheney now has cautioned the Saudis against interfering with that.

3. I Guess We Closed The Petroleum Reserve...
I remember Clinton drove down prices and how the GOOPers howled. IRC, I bought a gallon of gas for under $1 just prior to this regime taking over. Seems like a lifetime ago.

This regime is thinking only of themselves and 1-20-09...making as much as they can while they can and then make a clean getaway as the next administration is left to clean up the messes. The profits are all that matter. This regime has benefited from all this turbulence and is trying to use this crisis as a way to force even more pain.

Ya think this regime would say ANYTHING under oath? Yeah right. Nero fiddles...in his bubble world things are just fine and dandy.

4. How about a federally sponsored rideshare program?
Like rideshareonline.com, but for the whole country.

Anyway, there are things he can do. He never will say anything about using less oil.

6. Hmmmm. Wasn't it in the early 70's when Nixon put emergency
price controls into effect. Of course they handled it badly and it just fucked things up even more, but done honestly and RIGHT, I'm certain it could/would help out in this crisis.

Something can be done. You know if bush**s lips are moving, he's lying.

8. Yeah well he and his boss weren't sing that tune in the fall of 2000.
They were berating President Clinton for the "high" prices at the pump and touting what they would do and what they thought his administration should do. Guess they are hoping we won't remember that. :silly: Anyway, what did we really think would happen to the price of oil after "electing" two oil men?
