Excuse me, but isn't this EXACTLY what we did with Afghanistan? Not only did we supply them with weapons to use against Soviet troops, we gave them training, money, etc. I guess it's just a damned good thing that none of the Soviet premiers was as fucking irrational as our own Dear Leader (and I use that term most sarcastically).
